What are you watching & why? (splain)

I watched Bark on Prime last night. They have 2 with the same name, so the one with the guy tied to the tree is the one I watched. Poetic Justice is how i would describe this movie. The ending really surprised me and explained the whole movie, the why.

- Guillermo Del Toro's cinematic adaptation of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein on Netflix is quite a filmmaking feat. Of course many of us have watched so many adaptations and presentation of the story but I found this one being thoroughly and absolutely enjoyable as I think that Del Toro is both a great director and an extremely gifted storyteller.

- IT, Welcome to Derry on HBO. Took me the pilot and then about half of the second episode to get engaged with this one but I really like it now and look forward to its weekly release very Sunday.

- Death by Lightning on Netflix. Not being a native, I am well versed in the history of most our past Presidents so I always watch these kind of series. I am not a history buff to attest to its the accuracies but I do understand the value of dramatization in filmmaking so I did ever so thoroughly enjoyed this one. Matthew MacFadyen really hits this one out of the park. Notably Michael Shannon, Shea Whigham plus Nick Offerman are all great supporting casts plus everyone else acting in this mini series. Liked it very very much.

Tomorrow "Blue Lights" season 3 begins on Britbox. A good series if you like cop shows. This one takes place in Belfast and has a lot going for it.

Watched the preview for this the other night. Looked promising, might watch in a couple weeks once life settles down a bit after my elk hunting trip.

Absolutely love Guillermo. Pan's Labyrinth is an all time great and the commentary is excellent.

Me and the Mrs thought Frankenstein was better than expected also

I'm very late to the party as usual, but have been really enjoying the first season of Slow Horses. Not entirely sure why gritty spy stories do it for me, I guess discovering le Carré at the library in my teens ruined my morals.

Before that I watched Murderbot, which was pretty entertaining. Having read most of the book before seeing it, I had the usual problems reconciling the show on the TV with the one in my head, but enjoyed it.

I'm watching Hostiles on Netflix & it's really good. Rosamund Pike should have gotten an Oscar for her performance. Great cast, cinematography & writing all around. I can't believe I missed this one from 2017.
I saw that recently as well and really enjoyed it, a good, modern western. I appreciated that they had several characters carry and use historically accurate knives that were issued to cavalry at the time.
