What are you watching & why? (splain)

So true. Lately we've just been reverting to old re-runs of M.A.S.H and Magnum P.I.
Man I love Magnum, P.I.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a great show, Vincent D'Onofrio plays a Columbo like detective. He is obsessive and very perceptive. He psychologically dismantles suspects. His interrogations feel more like chess matches or clinical experiments than police questioning. He uses long, probing conversations, he mimics suspects’ speech patterns and behaviors, he puts on like he is vulnerable and curious. He gradually unravels suspects emotionally, often leading them to confess without realizing it. It is great to watch.

Chris Noth plays a detective in a few seasons as well. His character is more the romanticized classic New York detective. He uses his gut instinct, he is tough, sarcastic, , confrontational and believes in right vs. wrong but is willing to bend rules, but not break his core ethics.

Odd, I never found that I could get into Law and Order, though my late brother in law had it on 24/7/365 it seemed. (And I do love a good police procedural.)

Vincent D'Onofrio's sister, Elizabeth, was a friend of ours for a number of years until she moved away. She used to tell us some funny stories about her and her brother's lives.

Same here with Absentia. Watched S1 but gave up after the 3rd episode in S2. It's one of those shows which gets silly on the whodunit villain. Plus, I have never been a New Yorker but the eastern euro city where the series was filmed doesn't even remotely resemble NY!
