What are you watching & why? (splain)

Watched a few movies at my weekly movie night.

We started with the new Anaconda. It was absurd, and really bad, but I laughed a lot. No regrets, I was thoroughly entertained.
Continued with Sisu: Road to Revenge. Again, absurd, yet cathartic. If you watched the first one, the second one continues with a similar formula.
Ended the evening with War Machine. That was just straight up 80's action flair. I loved it way more than I thought I was going to. A very entertaining film.
 
"The End of Oak Street and "Werwulf" look good for us horror fans. Just caught the Trailers. Gotta wait until Aug. 14 for Oak Street and Xmas day 2026 for Werwulf. Oak Street appears to be transported to another dimension or something with dinos running around and Werwulf another gothic horror flick with Willem Defoe filmed around spooky mansions. Long wait for em but hopefully worth it. Check out the Trailers if interested.

I've been watching a couple of shows with the missus:

- DTF, with Jason Bateman and David Harbour. Someone here mentioned something about that show awhile back that made me laugh. The show itself, however, has not been all that funny to me. I find it deeply sad. I have a feeling I know where it's going; I guess we will see on Sunday.
- Rooster, with Steve Carrell. It has its moments, and I find the PC culture struggles to be amusing. That said, I've never been a big fan of Carrell's brand of awkward humor, and it's well on display here, though maybe a bit tamer than his past stuff.
 
So, my wife's niece is married to one of the Kinanne Brothers, which prolly doesn't mean anything to anyone outside of RI. But anyway, they've made 2 films with Kevin James...Home Team and Solo Mio. We saw Home Team a couple years ago, and just watched Solo Mio tonight. Home Team is a pretty straightforward comedy, while Solo Mio is more of a chick flick rom-com. Both are pretty good, but I preferred Home Team. Check them out!
 
Watched Daddio on Netflix with Sean Penn and Dakota Johnson (and only those two in the movie, ha!) last night. I really enjoyed and really liked it but the reviews online are mixed 🤷🏻‍♂️

Character driven with dialogue taking place in a NY yellow cab between the cabbie and his passenger. Leaving Netflix’s catalog in about 10 days for those interested.
