What are you watching & why? (splain)

Let's also not forget (as much as I would like to) Rogan's role in the recent remake of "Animal Farm." As is often the case, the Critical Drinker offered the best review of that revionist swill:

 
I got a reminder from Prime Video that Jet Li's FEARLESS is expiring off the platform on 5/30/26 so I fired it up. Really good movie with a compelling plot (based on a true story) and some of the best martial arts scenes I've ever seen.

 
Checking out World War 2 with Tom Hanks on the History Channel. Plenty of episodes too. Started last night from 8PM to 10Pm. Probably repeat it 100 times for those who are interested and missed it. Waitin on that Doomsday flick with Emily Blunt due out June 14.
 
OK here we go about my take of The Boroughs on Netflix:

Currently their #1 TV series with 8 episodes. This series is about supernatural and mythical happenings in a retirement community of the same name. It has a strong cast and it is entertaining enough but pretty much by the end of the 4th episode, it starts to lose its luster (well for me, YMMV). The concept was a good one but the writing gets bad enough to be potentially blames on some AI. The cast still carries it but it does get cheesy toward the end. The special effect makes ups are definitely not they used to be so here is where AI is inferior to those humans who used to this kinda stuff (I am assuming that it is AI assisted but I could be wrong).

Final notes: it is entertaining enough but you must suspend belief / disbelief and just roll with the cheesy entertainment value or else the plot holes will drive you crazy. Postive being that the cast is good to great plus if you are at least as old as me, you will see some of the well-known actors/actresses of those yesteryears still acting and doing fine in their 70s.

Though it was decent...kinda like Stranger Things at an old folks home (but not as good). And you know you'd do Geena Davis.

- Yeah, I have actually read comments similar to this but not surprised because the producers are the Duffer Bros.

- I think that my first memories of Geena Davis are from The Fly in the mid 80s. My most favorite visuals of GD are from the movie Earth Girls Are Easy.

The Audacity. The first episode is weak sauce. Plus I find it hilarious that Hollywood is pointing the finger at Silicon Valley and calling it “morally bankrupt”. It may well be, but Hollywood is in no position to point the finger at anyone except themselves.
