What are you watching & why? (splain)

Just watched Episode 1 of "House of the Dragons" released this evening.

No need to have seen GoT to watch HoD. All new characters & different "plot" but the same intrigue. Supposedly 10 dragons serve the Targaryens at this point in the story but only saw 1. We're only into Episode 1 and it remains to be seen how the rest of the season pans out but so far, so good. :)

2 actually. I’m already hooked!

I'll have 2 watch more carefully again. ;)
Rhaenyra's gold dragon and Daemon's red dragon. I enjoyed the first episode and like the way everything is being set up. Fingers crossed it doesn't go the way of the latter seasons of GoT.

The wife and I watch UFC every week.what a great main card.
Leon's finish of Usman was unbelievable. Usman was less than a minute away from keeping the belt and tying Silva's record and then BOOM!

Should have been obvious but didn't watch the show that carefully. More listened than watched as I often do while online doing other things.

Rewatching it again now and will look for the red one.

More dragons is cool and l also like that nudity and sex are back. :)

Update: So, yeah, the dragon at the funeral was different than the one flying/landing during the opening scene.

The 1st one is described as a young one and is golden while the red one looks older and larger. Even so the differences are subtle and you have to watch closely to discren them, which I didn't do the 1st time around.

The name of the 1st was Syrax (or something like that). The other one wasn't named but only given the command "Dracarus," which was Dany's favorite command, in order to set the pyre on fire. ;)

+1 for the House of the Dragon... Much needed and justified enthusiasm infused into the pilot, specially after the debacle of GoT's final season and the finale! Thinking of GoT, one problem at least in my mind was that there were so many younger actors and actresses who grew up before our eyes in the series and as it is clear as day with the younger actors who suddenly find fame and fortunes, issues ensue which affect performances potentially shaping future scripts and outcomes... I like to see more mature and theatrically trained actors/actresses performing in this prequel and they seem to be very good at handling their jobs, so far...

The dragon in the beginning and the dragon at the funeral was Syrax. You can tell by the gold color, 4 horns and the saddle. Daemon's dragon at the end is Caraxes, which is red with a longer neck and a different horn style.

WTF ? I looked paying special attn to the dragons and still got it wrong?

I thought the red one at the end was the same one at the funeral. 🤷‍♂️

Well, I'm certainly not going to try to ID a dragon here again. LOL!!! ;)

You'll be sorry when you're standing there with a K20 in your hand and can't figure which dragon to strike. It's your funeral. 😂

I wouldn't even think of trying to "strike" a dragon unless I had a huge crossbow with a harpoon like the guy in Hobbit: 5 Armies.

I'd do a Harry Potter and hop on a boomstick and boogie the heck out of there ASAP instead. LOL! ;)

Just binge watched Season 1 of "The Undeclared War" on Peacock, which was just released a couple of days ago. It's only 6 episodes long.

It's about political cyberhacking/warfare, the manipulation of social media and fabricated "news."

Won't go into the political ins & outs here -- which is verboten -- but, while the show is based in England, it raises issues particularly germaine to recent history in the USA. The lead actress is kinda annoying but there was enough uncertainity and suspense to still make the show interesting to me.

The ending of Episode 6 is provides a sufficient conclusion but is still ambiguous enough to set up a 2nd Season, which I'll watch if there is one.
If you found that interesting…Capture is another English show with similar themes around media manipulation etc.

Also if you haven’t watched it yet and like British cop dramas…Line of Duty is right up there with Bosch, The Wire, etc.

I've seen those other shows but I didn't find them as appealing.

"The Undeclared War" wasn't just another cops/robbers crime series. The techno/hacking and political angles (and the current relevance of those angles) were what got me interested and got me to binge watch the show.

Just watched Jurassic World Dominion on DVD and thought it was a "hot mess."

Only watched it because I've watched all of the other Jurrasic movies and truly hope this one is that last.

It has all of the normal Jurrasic Park/World "action" -- dinsoaurs w/lots of teeth chasing the main characters and eating the others, including the "villan" who ran the evil/greedy corporation.

The ending theme also SO LAME. We just have get along and live with them? With the dinosaurs -- sharks w/feet -- that will eat you? Really???

What nonsense! True human reaction would have been to nuke 'em all back to extinction w/all we've got. Get real!!!

LOL! 🤣

After Wheel of Time, I don't have a lot of faith in Amazon for fantasy. Especially when they don't even have the rights to the Silmarillion. So this series is basically expensive fan fiction. 😢

With the travesty they made of WoT (despite actually having the rights to that), I'll just skip this unless a LOT of reviewers change my mind.

Was actually pleasantly surprised by The Terminal List, but I think that had to do with Chris Pratt producing it and calling the shots.

I'll also avoid everything directed by Rafe Judkins (WoT) from now on, after he basically came out and said, "Screw all you diehard fans. I'll make whatever changes I feel like. Maybe I'll make more changes specifically to piss you all off some more"
