What are you watching & why? (splain)

I'll also avoid everything directed by Rafe Judkins (WoT) from now on, after he basically came out and said, "Screw all you diehard fans. I'll make whatever changes I feel like. Maybe I'll make more changes specifically to piss you all off some more"
I watched one of the behind the scenes episodes on Amazon and he talked about how he was a die hard fan of WoT and how he carried the book everywhere with him as a kid. Then I watched the show and kept on thinking that he loved the story so much that he decided to make major changes to it?

Which is ironic considering Jordan's words.
"It's my story, guys. If you have ideas, write your own stories."

Half way through "House of the Dragon"

BIG meh. Dislike the teenage portion. Dislike the filler. BIG MEH.

WITHOUT SPOILERS, I disliked the "competition". One need only to understand the historic rules of the game first to understand my dislike.

DISLIKE the "teeny bopper" influence. In my humble opinion, this book adaptation to film was not meant for a teenage audience and should therefore not cater to such groups. Such is Hollywood/streaming services. They will cater to as many audiences as they can that will provide money to view. Bah.

I was unsure while reading your review, but once you said 'bah' I thought OK he's speaking my language, I'll trust it.

Watched Day Shift on Netflix (Jamie Foxx vampire hunter thing). Boy was it bad. Terrible acting, ridiculously bad fight choreography, had a decent chase scene but not much else going for it.

Damn, I was interested enough when I saw it listed to not even watch the preview, I was just going to go straight in and watch it when I had the time alone. Now I’m real curious how bad it is lol.

Always had a healthy respect for the folks who compete in Crossfit competition. Got an email from Rogue, with the online Quals for their upcoming Crossfit competition (i.e. if you're not a renowned competitor who's already gotten an invitation, any unknown Joe can send in their $35 admission, along with video of their best attempts in the 4 Qualifying tests, and if they're in the top submissions, earn an invitation to the actual competition, with travel and hotel compensation).

Not going to be attempting this EVER, but I clicked on the videos of the 4 events, just to see what it took. Yeah. I'd be dead. 😅

I'm on my 3rd attempt TODAY to watch "The Samaritan" -- a movie "starring" Slyvester Stallone -- that was just released today 8/26/2022 on Prime Video.

It's another superhero comic book movie -- ever hear of Mythos Comics? -- but one that I just can't focus my attention on.

The only things I've noticed so far is that the "villain" -- Cyrus - is played by Johan Philip "Pilou" Asbæk (the same guy who played crazy Uncle Euron Greyjoy in "GoT") and that another bad guy wannabe -- named Reza -- is played by Moisés Arias (the same guy that played the bully Bonzo who ended up comatose in "Ender's Game").

The actor -- Javon Walker --who plays the kid -- Sam Cleary -- in the movie in a supporting role to Stallone (like Jackie Cooper does w/Wallace Beery in Treasure Island and The Champ) isn't very good. He's not as cute as Jackie Cooper was. His character is not as smart as Ed Furlong who plays John Conner in "Terminator 2" in support of Schwarzeneger who plays the Terminator. And, his character is not as dangerous as Dafne Keene who plays Logan's daughter -- X23 -- in "Logan" in support of Hugh Jackman who plays Logan.

It's obvious that I watch too many movies abnd too much TV. LOL! ;)

Anyway, any TV show that can't draw my attention away from my computer is pretty weak. So, I obviously can not recommend it.

Watched the new Top Gun. Not a waste of time, but not as good as I had hoped with all the raving reviews.

And, BTW, there are helmet laws in CA, and the Kawasaki in the beginning was a nice touch,

Series 2 of The Outlaws did not disappoint if you like British Humor :)

We only watched the second season of "The Outlaws" because there was nothing else we were wanting to see, and we needed a break from baseball for an evening or two.

It's mindless entertainment...and I constantly asked myself why I kept watching it. (Christopher Walken is the primary reason.)

Watched this last night. Actually a pretty decent movie.

Not really a Marvel, nonstop action type of superhero movie, but I found it pretty well done overall, and worth the watch.

I may try again and actually SIT and WATCH it but usually it's 3 strikes and "You're Out!" w/me. ;)

Currently have Dr. Strange 2 -- a "real" Marvel Comics superhero flick -- in my combo DVD/TV, Wasn't too impressed w/the few scenes that I saw previously but we'll just have to see how it goes.

There is something wrong with that first dragon, is that an edit? It is horrifying. It looks completely messed up. Is that some kind of rape joke? I enjoy a rape joke as much as the next average HBO enjoyer. But seriously…What the heck is wrong with that dragon. What on earth? Lord Hesus Christ have mercy me, a sinner. Dragon raper.

I can't play golf worth a d*mn but I enjoy watching it played well by those who can.

Just finished watching the final round of the Tour Championship at Eastlake and am still pondering the thought of earning $18 million for winning just a single golf tournament. 🤔

Congrats to Rory McIlroy for overcoming a 6 stroke deficit at the start of the final round to beat Scottie Scheffler to win the tournament by 1 shot. Congrats also to McIlroy's caddie who should take home $1.8M for his duties. 🥳

There's no doubt that Scheffler subcumbed to the pressure by shooting a 3 over par 73 after shooting 65, 66 & 66 the prior 3 rounds and the fact than only 4 players) including him shot over par in the round; 2 of them in 28-29th place and the other was Colin Morikawa who finished 21st.

If he had just shot an even par 70, Scheffler would have won but he still walked away with $5.75M tied for 2nd. Not so bad. LOL! ;)

Then again, McIlory still had to shoot a 4 under par 66 for the win and over come a 6 shot deficit at the start of the round after shooting a 7 under par 63 in the prior round to just get into contention. So, it wasn't as though McIlroy didn't earn it. 😎

Covering several movies/TV shows that I've watched (been watching) recently in this post.

------------------------------------------------------

Took a look at Dr. Strange 2 -- Mutliverse of Madness -- and wasn't impressed.

iu

I think Marvel's run out of "new" ideas and are just relying on the "multiverse" angle to try to save the franchise.

They've used it twice w/Dr. Strange, used in Spiderman and it's starting to creep into other non-Marvel movies like "Everything Everywhere All At Once" (EEAAO) which I saw at the theater but haven't bothered to "review" here because (as much as I'm a fan of Michelle Yeoh) I thought that it was just a complete mess but may take another look at it again on DVD just to confirm my original opinion of it.

Also watched Episode 2 of House of the Dragon (HOTH) and was bored by it because it's a transition episode and there's just a lot of talking but you still need to watch it for plot continuity. Only good part was the scene w/the 2 dragons in it.

----------------------------------------------

Last, am trying to do catch-up w/Westword which I had a hard time following and gave up on for awhile. Skipped back to Episode 5 of 8 to restart.

Doesn't help that the show is so slowly paced. I'm getting the gist of the plot now but (like HOTH) you really have to pay attention to follow what's going on. Should finish catching up by the end of today but I'm really hoping that the final episode will be the END of Westworld because they really have no where left to go w/the "plot."

Update -- SPOILERS re Westworld:

Ok, Dolores is GOD -- the Supreme Being -- in Westworld. Has even more power than Charlotte and the Man in the Black Hat (including his clone). Everyone dies (guests and hosts -- Bernard, Mauve & Charlotte) but Dolores hopes for a better future by starting over and re-making the the Season 1 Westword again. So, this hopefully should be the absolute END of Westword series !!!! 🥳
