What are you watching & why? (splain)

"Kleo" on Netflix. A German production...sort of like a combination of "Killing Eve" and "The Americans" in a comical wrapper.

Worth the ride. (Five episodes in, out of 8.)

(For the record, I thought "Killing Eve" was fun for a while but it got tedious. This gets more interesting as it goes.)

Same. Great setup and first season and then went downhill from there.
Yep. I think we have similar tastes. (BTW, we did end up watching all of "For All Mankind" and we both enjoyed it. It became a bit soapish, but still...)

Try "Kleo" and let me know what you think. Give it a few episodes if it doesn't resonate right off the bat. It's fun and funny, but has a pretty good, and interesting plot line.

Finally finished Yellowstone season 1-4, so I'm ready for season 5. Overall, an enjoyable show and some great characters.

My major gripe.
The character development of Jamie through the series has been really disappointing. He went from a loyal, smart lawyer to basically Beth's punching bag. Every new scene is him being bullied by Beth, getting struck and cowering. Just some lazy writing to have Beth appear at the train stop and take a picture. It's not like there wasn't enough skeletons to bring everyone down.

Whoa... didn't know that was a feature/option (the blurred spoiler).

For a second, I thought your main gripe was that you misplaced your eyeglasses while watching the show 🤣

So, we'll just have to deal w/her insufferable arrogance some more and I wonder what it will take for her character to demonstrate some grace and humility.

Well... We have at least 5 seasons to find out 😁.

I've been enjoying the hell out of Rings of Power. I'm showing my age but The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy was a pretty big part of my young adulthood (mine and my wife's). We have been religiously sitting down these past few weeks and watching the new episodes and it's been quite a treat.

1.) The orcs are just fantastic - I LOVE the return to more practical makeup and prosthetics. Cinema is getting lazy with all the CGI these days.
2.) It makes sense that Galadriel is "difficult". I read it explained that the difference in age between then and the Lord of the Rings timeline for her is akin to the difference between an 18 year old and a 40 year old. There is a lot of growing/maturing that happens in that amount of time.
3.) It's been great to experience Númenor and it will be interesting to see how all of the intrigue plays out - it's a bit nasty in the source material.
4.) Despite Halbrand's character being an original creation for the show, the theories surrounding who he might eventually become are pretty fun to entertain.
5.) The chemistry between Durin and Elrond is pretty great to see and as a side note, the dwarves are some of the best parts of the series so far - just awesome.

Should watch the prequel "1883" with Sam Elliott first. Right up my alley as far as westerns.

1883 was pretty great. I did not think that I would enjoy Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as actors but they were superb. I had some issues with the direction towards the latter episodes but overall, it was a solid western series - I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys westerns. (I have not seen any of the actual Yellowstone series - hasn't really appealed to me yet)

I was in NZ for five months in 2002/3. Americas Cup was on, I was learning to sail in dighys and getting my competent crew on a 19 footer.

Andy Irons just won pipe and became the Surfing World Champion for the first time. I stop sailing, spent six weeks in Taranaki, learned to surf and then moved across the country for my last month with an 8ft longboard on top of my car.

Was in Sri Lanka just before the tsunami for 4 months when Andy won his third in a row.

This has been out a while, but Andys brother, Bruce has made it available for all, so I hear.

Watched "Dog" last night with Channing Tatum...a decent flick if you like dogs. (And who doesn't?)

Then watched "The Outfit" with Mark Rylance. More of a play than a movie, (as he is known primarily for his work on stage), and very much in the British tradition of whodunits...but we enjoyed it.

Both on Prime.
