What are you watching & why? (splain)

All Quiet On The Western Front was good. No plot, but that really helped hit home how chaotic the first World War was.

Watching Peripheral as well. Shows good promise. I like it so far.

House of the Dragon is OK, i guess. Character development felt rushed. I don't care for any of the characters; they could all be killed off and I wouldn't blink, unlike Game of Thrones.

Leafs game tonight.
Thanks. I'm sure I'll be watching "All Quiet" in the near future. The book was powerful, and it's been years since I've seen the original movie.

Rangers have a 2PM date today. They are really looking like crap to me. Halak hasn't been stellar as backup goalie, and the team, which was not a high scoring team last year and lost three principal scorers, can't put the puck in the net so far. Brutal.

Hopefully the Leafs can use this game to right the ship. They’re most certainly not playing up to their potential.

I’m looking for Matthews to start burying his chances.

I've been pulling for the Leafs when it hasn't been a conflict with the Rangers. I go back to original 6 days and I'd like to see them shine again. It just seems that they under-perform, despite the talent. (Like many of my NY teams I could mention.)

100%

It’s very frustrating, to say the least. They seem to try extra hard to under-perform against teams they should beat! 🤬

Just watched a new documentary about the life of Louis Armstrong called "Black and Blues" which you can see on Apple+ or your favorite pirate streaming channel which is where I watched it.

I've seen other documentaries about Armstrong and this is one of the best of them. Well worth watching if you are a fan of jazz, in general, and/or of Satchmo in particular.

I prefer his instrumentals but this is my favorite song of his, which sounds like the same soundtrack used in "Good Morning, Vietnam.":

Watching Game #2 of the WS at the moment. Astros were ahead 5-0 again in the top of the 7th but just gave up a run. Hope they can hold the lead this time to even up the series a 1-1.

Learning A LOT listening to John Smoltz (when they let him) talk about pitching strategy -- knowing the zones/type of pitches to throw to a specific hitter based on tape/stats and how to "work" the batter based on the "count."

Of course, it all depends on the pitcher's execution of the strategy but Smoltz is very good at predicting what & why a pitcher is likely to throw "next."

As a HOF pitcher, he should be. ;)

I've watched the 1st 3 episodes of "Peripheral" on Prime and I've had a hard time getting into it. So, I'm going to stop watching it for now but may binge watch the entire season later to see if it holds up better that way.

I had a hard time getting into "East NY" on CBS too. Initially I liked it but it started to wear on me because it's lends towards being overly dramatic and self-righteous. The transitions between scenes are also too rapid and the script is unrealistic.

Explosive expert gives up in an instant because he's worried about what his kids will think? Such negotiations often take hours if not days. Give me a break! 🤷‍♂️

I've removed it from my "record" queue and, unlike "Peripheral" I have no plans to watch it again.

Just "kinda" watched "Thor: Love and Thunder" on DVD.

iu

It's gotten fair to positive reviews but, based on what little I actually watched, it just seems like a "hot mess" to me, which was the same reaction that I had to "Everything Everywhere All At Once."

I've watched all of the Marvel Comics pics and IMO this is the worst of them. I cannot recommend it.

Watch it at your own risk. ;)
