What are you watching & why? (splain)

Watched the first episode of Shantaram on Apple+ last night. Jury is out on this one. (Stars Charlie Hunnam of "Sons of Anarchy" fame.)

anyone ever see one of those ''exercise while sitting down with a balloon because you dress like an old lady and you're an old lady'' shows?

yeah I'm not sitting here completely content muttering under my breath how easy that looks and how she ''MUST be super bad at lifting''.

nope. not doing that right now that's for sure.

Yes I've seen them and it's sad.

FWIW, I use to see "trainers" who visited the assisted living facility where my mother lived (at the time) and a lot of seniors there really can't do much more than that which I personally believe is because they never exercised and allowed their muscles atropy so that they couldn't do more than that.

I'm as old now as some of the people I saw there then and hope I never get to that point. I exercise daily on my Concept 2 rower to help avoid it.

This reminds me of a dark comedy I found very… dark… and amusing.
And if any of you want to find out why and enjoy dark comedy I would suggest taking a half hour to watch this “short”.

Putting that on the watch list. I'm a big Brendan Gleeson fan. Looking forward to seeing his new one with Colin Farrell - "The Banshees of Inisherin." Which reminds me - I also need to re-watch "In Bruges." Those two are in top form in that one.

When I watched it the first time it was because Gleeson was in it. It is very dark. My wife didn’t find it amusing at any point.

I thought of you guys when I saw the scores during the Rangers' post game coverage. Sorry. Mentioned to my wife that a couple of my online buds were not going to be pleased.

A change is coming. Kerfoot and Holl will probably be traded. Just pathetic performance from some very well paid men. Honestly believe they no longer want to play for Toronto and are coasting until their contracts are concluded.

This sums it up my emotions for the Leafs in general. Just gutted.

I agree with what Steve so eloquently said - it’s over!

The Leafs do not have an identity. At least not a positive one. They have nearly no grit, they lack character, their D-core is poor and their goaltending is terrible.

Holl needs to go. He’s awful. I believe Kerfoot can be a valuable player for Toronto, but he can’t seem to find his groove, so I wouldn’t doubt if we see him go, but I think it will only have a negligible effect.

I don’t know what the answer is, but BIG changes need to happen before the Leafs are cup contenders. This current team ain’t it.

I'm usually the minority in this..... but the only sport I follow is basketball

Watching the cavs play Boston again....GO CAVS!

Just watched the Astros beat the Phillies 4-1 in the 6th game of the World Series to take the championship 4-2.

I was only rooting for the Astros because I wanted them to win one for Dusty, who use to play/coach for and manage the SF Giants and who almost won a World Series with the Giants 20 years ago in 2002.

Congrats to Dusty Baker for winning his 1st WS Championship in his career as a manager !! 🥳🤩🥳🤩

. . . a career that started in 1993 with the SF Giants that has spanned almost 30 years since then. 👏👏👏👏👏

If you're looking for a new Western to watch, check out "The English" on Prime.

iu

It was just released on 11/11/2020. Just started watching it and am currently on Episode 3 of 6 and I like it.

Emily Blunt plays an Englishwoman who meets/befriends a Native American, who previously served as an Army scout, played by Chaske Spencer, who actually is a Native American actor.

Blunt is one of my favorite actresses because of her ability to play such a wide range of roles -- from Devil Wears Prada to Young Victoria to Adjustment Bureau to Edge of Tomorrow to Sicario.

Spencer also does an excellent job of playing the taciturn and aggrieved Native American, who is the most capable, honorable and trustworthy person in the show.

Thanks for the rec. I like me some Blunt - I'll put it on the watch list.

Episodes 1-3 were good.

Episode 4 isn't as much so because Blunt & Spencer aren't much in it because it's a flashback episode but still compelling if you stick w/it. and it links the past w/the present in the show.

Update:

Just finished "The English." Binge-watched all 6 episodes in a day and enjoyed it thru the end.

It's an unusual western w/some unique angles. Given the ending, it's unlikely to be continued for another season and I think that is just as well because I think it would be better to stand as a mini-series on its own.

"Countdown to Christmas!" (*Hallmark Channel)

Hold on, hold on. Before y'all revoke my "Man Card" and get me tossed from the Forum, please allow me to explain...

As some of y'all know, I'm locked in an Asylum with an 80yo lady who is almost completely imbecile. My idea of an AWESOME day is getting to run errands (*grocery store, Post Office, bank, etc.) for an hour, in one of the old trucks, while my "Patient" is asleep. For those of you who have never cared for an ill/Senior relative, allow me to walk you through the process.

At first, they LOVE things like "48 hours", "20/20 on OWN", etc. Then, if they have Alzheimer's (*and as their disease progresses), they get to the point where they can no longer separate "reality reporting" from "reality". The stories, photos, suspenseful music/sounds start to give them great anxiety. At that point, a lovey-dovey "chick flick" is about all they can handle/enjoy. Simple story line, no violence, and one innocent kiss at the end.

I lost my faith years ago (*fallen away Catholic) but am still thankful to God (*daily) for 24 hours of easy to watch "entertainment". No matter how often our sleep schedules get screwed-up (*and it's ridiculously often), we have some easy-going flicks to enjoy. It is what it is.

And again, believe it or not, I'm more thankful for those Hallmark Christmas movies than I could ever express.
