What are your top 5 favorite all-around EDC knives?

Usually carry a smaller fixed blade but this is my list:

Spyderco GB1
Victorinox Cadet
Bark River City Knife
Bark River Mini Aurora
Krein TK-1

No particular order ...

Spyderco Delica 4 FFG
Ontario Rat 1 D2
CS Ultimate Hunter
SAK Explorer
ZT 350

Aside from the Vic Rambler that lives on my key ring, the most carried this year are

Benchmade Bugout with Keyman scales
CRK small Insingo
Benchmade mini Ritter Grip with DOAT scales
Jason Guthrie Scout
Benchmade Mini Dejavoo

Brian Nadeau (Sharp by Design) Mini Typhoon
Brian Nadeau (Sharp by Design) Chicane
Nick Chuprin MK1-S
Ferrum Forge Masterblaster
ZT 0808 with an MXG milled clip

I suppose this shows how much I like titanium frame lock flippers in a medium size range. I also have a Ferrum Forge Demigod that gets carried a lot, but that's not a knife most folks would be familiar with since it's a one-off.

These aren’t my favourites or my best or what I think might or should be the best EDC knives; these are what I actually do carry every day:

At home, inside or outside:

[1] BRK / ESSE Zancudo in D2
[2] SAK of some kind (there’s always one or another in easy reach).

Away from the house:

[1] SAK Classic on car key chain
[2] Gerber Micra on house key chain
[3] Case peanut in SS
[4] SAK Compact
[5] Fallkniven U2, or U4, or Zancudo; but usually the U2.

That’s what seems to “just work” for me, even though I have ostensibly ‘better’ knives I could carry (and do if I have reason: just not every day).

Carothers EDC2 (fixed)
Diskin Fire
Emerson Tiger
Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight
Spyderco Yojimbo 2

WAWCUiA.jpg

Zinker Dogtooth
Alox Cadet
Spyderco Baby Jess Horn
CRKT Ripple in Acuto+
Spyderco Native CE

Victorinox Small Tinker
Benchmade Mini Presidio II
These ^^ are the two dominant carry folders now.

Sometimes carry the SteelWill Mini Cutjack in M390
Sometimes my old Vic Adventurer side lock model (It is my old Vic I carried all the time before the Small Tinker.)
Leatherman Ps4 Squirt since I carry one all the time and it does have a blade (that I don't use)
Add the Vic One Handed Trekker if I am headed to the woods.

Honorable mention goes Spydie Native 5 and Kiwi 4.

Small Sebenza
Benchmade 940
Spyderco Caly 3
Small Inkosi Insingo
Custom Wilkins Leafstorm

Always the impossible question, but right now these see my pockets the most:

Bugout
PM2
Large KA 21 Insingo
Small KA 21 Insingo
XM18 Skinny 3.5

For me, the Insingo is a given because of the blade. A small Insingo is my dream knife. I can get behind the bugout, no problem. I can even get behind the PM2, kind of. I am not crazy about the PM2 blade but, I love the handle.

But, the XM18...I'm sorry. I can't go for that. No can do. It just seems so out of place compared to the other knives. If I may ask, what role does it fill in your EDC?

Have you tried a 3.5" Skinny? It might be a better slicer than the PM2, fairly light weight, and ergonomic perfection for me. The SWDLC Skinny was probably my most carried knife over the winter. Now with the 3.5" no choil Skinny Slicer and Skinny Sheepsfoot options, it's one of my favorite models. If this were a list of six knives, the 3" slicer no choil would be on there as well.

JD Vandeveter EDC in carbon fiber
Small Benchmade Bone Collector (forgot the model #)

Easy question for my 2 best all around EDC.
For me they are the Small inkosi and the large sebenza 21 without any hesitation since they give all what you need from a folder
My small Inkosi DP PJ and my large 21 insingo red micarta are my personal favourites

My no 3 is the Benchmade Bugout
For sure it is better for’lighter use than the 2 first but when it comes to all around edc it offers a lot
I have the ranger green version and I like it a lot

Positions 4 and 5 are very difficult for me to pick
There are so many options depending of your lifestyle

Manly wasp, TRK Atlas, Benchmade proper and Hinderer slippy are great for Slipjoints

Spyderco paramilitary 2, ZT0640 are good choices for not flipper semi tactical knives
Not on the same level of quality but my Emerson CQC7 is great also

The Hinderer ZT and originals are great flippers, i also like the Synkevich ZTs

Humm... very difficult for me to pick only 2.

For my personal use I would pick the 0393 and the slippy.

So to conclude:
  1. Small inkosi DP PJ
  2. Large sebenza 21 insingo red micarta
  3. Benchmade bugout ranger green
  4. Hinderer slippy
  5. ZT0393

2 Case peanut cv 15 years
3 small sebenza. 7 years
4 victorinox 2017 cadet 2 years .
