What Benchmade do you have on the way?

I put my payment in the mail I think Friday night, in time for the 7:00 P.M. pickup, and it came in Thursday. I ordered the Nagara from them late Saturday or Sunday night, that one got here on something like Tuesday. Unbelievably fast.

Presidio 520 plain edge satin, and a Bone Collector plain edge G10 green and Black- I think you all know what is about to happen here!

That's a pretty good combination, basically gives the 520 customized scales...here's mine, only in black!

DAMN, That Black G10 really looks good on that blade, the texturing is fantastic - maybe I picked the wrong one as they will stop producing the Black G10. It really gives the Presidio a classic look.

Sir, clearly you know your Benchmades, why was there never a G10 version ever for the Presidio? Sprint or Dealer exclusive, would you be privvy to that intel?

Aside from the obvious need for better scales that didn't destroy jeans pockets, and which have been provided for years by Chax and others from home to custom shops, the answer is simply marketing. While there's no physical difference between the Blue and Black class Benchmades, the Presidio models have always been earmarked for the military set and so pushed on the rest of us as a result. One of the best things about the 520/525 models are the workings of their innards; Axis mechanism mixed with a superb blade shape and thick steel liners, it's again, the handles that need addressing.

One of the biggest favors Benchmade ever did for us was to produce the Bone Collector series, (and to a lesser degree, the "Ultra" series, all based on the same frame, lock, and similar blade shape...although the 522/527 versions sport a hollow ground 440C blade), giving us, with a simple blade change, a much nicer knife. There were factory produced upgrades in really great carbon fiber, but these were in the Gold Class line and I won't buy something I won't use, IMO.

It pays to pay attention the LE's made for GPK and KW dealers; there have been some very nice surprises over these last few seasons, but unfortunately the good old T6 handled pocket eaters remain.

Thanks for the info Sir, I appreciate the response.

I was looking at the 522, now I am convinced, maybe need one of those too, that beautifully hollow ground blade really is appealing, not to mention the price point - nothing wrong with 440C when well heat treated and tempered, takes a lovely keen edge too and a cinch to touch up.

I will look at a set of custom scales later on in CF for the 520, smooth with no hot spots.

Cheers.

BM 710 CPM-M4 and a limited edition mini barrage with the blue valox handles. Can't wait.

just got my first benchmade a griptilian 551h20,really liked the blade and the axis lock but i was quite disappointed with the colour(orange) of the scales,it looked brighter from the pictures.
I'm thinking about replacing the handles, does anyone if the orange of the standard griptilian is actually brighter than the one of the h2o version?

My 425 Gravitator just arrived today, I've never been so happy to get a knife. This has been my most desired production knife since I got into knives, I never thought I would be able to get my hands on one. It's perfect.
