What BIG folder do you really like?

When I say "BIG folder" I mean one with a blade longer than 4 inches.

I've bought and sold the SOG Pentagon Elite 2.
I've bought a CS 5" Voyager. Didn't sell it but I don't carry it. Will probably sell it soon.

I have a BM Ruckus that's due to arrive on Monday and I'm expecting great things from this knife. I am also having a friction type, open top, custom sheath made for it to enhance my carrying options. I have one for my Manix and love it.

Any other suggestions from direct experience? Something you own and that you carry, at least on occasion. I don't want just "hear say", please.

I know carrying any folder longer than 4" is never really comfortable but some feel better than others and tend to stay in the pocket better and "ride" more comforably.

Regards and many thanks,
Gary

Camillus Cuda Maxx. Though I knew I'd never carry it, I bought the Maxx because it was too cool not to own.

I love my Zero Tolerance ZT302. It is not only a big knife in length (about 4 inches) but also in heft. Hell, there is enough S30V in ths blade to make two regular knives! Most of my buddies have said it is too big for EDC, but I've been carrying it in my left pocket for two weeks (so far) with no problems.

My next big knife will be a Hossom/Ontario Retribution (but that is a sheath only knife)

I've a few, only the Maxx being *BIG*

They are top to bottom
Cuda Maxx
Skirmish
Military
Manix
SERE2K
Large Sebbie
BM710
Kershaw Boa

The Manix gets most pocket time; then the SERE, then the Sebbie.
I ought to sell the rest.

Sheesh, I forgot about the Skirmish. That was actually another knife I bought because it, too, was too cool not to own. So that makes two of 'em ... :)

Spyderco Police - just over 4" and carries just as comfortably as smaller knives (and even more comfortably than some because it's so thin). My only gripe is that the SS handles get too slippery, and you can't move the clip for tip-up carry:( .

Hossum Retribution when hiking on well used trails. I have had some flak from other hikers when carrying large fixed blades externally to my pack. I have started carrying the Retribution externally when I know I am likely to see others simply because, in it's sheath, nobody makes the connection "big knife" as it most assuredly is.

I have all small and medium sized knives, but I won a Cuda Maxx (thanks to Sierra1  ) in a contest and I have to say the thing is amazing. Not just the fact that it's huge, but it's designed and built so perfectly. Once I tried the flipper I was completely impressed by the lightning fast deployment of that enormous, razor sharp blade. It's almost scary! All my other folders seem to pale in comparison to the mighty titanium king.

I have an X2 voyager and a 6" ti lite, the voyager is kind of awkward to carry because it is so big, but the ti lite suprisingly isn't. It is very thin so it slips into your pocket nicely.

Camillus Maxx
Camillus Aftermath
Ontario Retribution I
BM Skirmish
BM Rukus

All are knives I've had and all of these are LARGE. Can't say anything negative about any of these. The BM Rukus is my LARGE carry at the moment.

Production, it'd have to be the Skirmish, Strider GB, or the Spyderco Police. Overall, though, my favorite knife with a blade over 4" would have to be the RJ Martin Devastator. That knife is a monster, and yet it carries more comfortably than any other knife I've ever experienced.

Lately, I've been carrying a SOG Pentagon Elite II in a generic nylon pouch on my belt, and it's worked out great. I forget it's there til I need it, and short of packing a hacksaw and an acetylene torch in my saddlebags, it'll cover any cutting jobs that come up. I deliberately dulled the hell out of it to test it, and my Sharpmaker brought it back to life in under 3 minutes. Hands down, one of the best folders I've ever owned.
