What brand makes up the largest part of your traditional knife collection?

Very nice! That's a flotilla of canoes there, Gary!
Now we're talking - errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr showing. Great picture of some great knives.
Gary, your canoes always make drool a bit.
...
My collection to date is 55 GECs, 23 Cases, 20 or so miscellaneous brands....
Thanks, Gary & ED & Ken. :)
Ken, that's an outstanding collection you posted, and they're impressively stored/organized!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I've got some Schrades... I know I've posted these before but it's pretty funny to see again ;) I think I have added some since too...

2nd Place for me would be Ulster's and then a smattering of NYKC, Imperial, Camillus and bunch of other random manufacturer's. :)

Interesting thread, I'll read it all later today. Chime in with my answer for now. I've always been about bang for the buck, which would be steel quality for the money in this case.

USA made Schrades would top the list.

Buck, followed by Case. The Old Timers some of you guys are showing are fantastic. I want a USA made 8OT sooooo bad. The first knife I ever had was an Old Timer stockman my dad gave me. That was around 30 years ago and it's been gone for a long time. Very nice examples and group shots guys :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’ve got ‘em scattered all over, but here are most of them. Are you looking for a certain pattern, ED?

No Jeff. I just wanted to see what you had in general. Those are some nice ones. I espicially like the saw cut bones such as the last knife you pictured.

Yes, ED, the sawcuts are my favorites. Not sure if I showed them all, but I have 8 different patterns in the brown sawcut. I really like the fancy bolsters, too. Those last two big'uns I posted, the folding hunter and the 4¼" stockman, are GEC quality. No rubs, no gaps, smooth cover to bolster transitions, even grinds, 5-6 pulls with great snap. If all I cared about knives was using them, I could live happily ever after with just Rough Rider and Victorinox.

I bought one Shatt/Queen knife and it was not that well made, so I stopped buying them right then and there. Kind of expensive to gamble on. I'm sure there are some outstanding examples out there though.

Boy, isn't that the truth ! I've owned 5 S&M's - every single one of them was a disappointment (not even close to fit and function of most modern era Case's). I have a couple Queen's that are really nice though ...

I have more Case by far, but I am not a huge traditional guy. Next would be Buck the GEC and Boker. I also have a couple of Opinel and Svord and a Douk Douk.

I'm glad to see that you and others think that Rough Rider knives can match GEC Quality. I think that because of that, more and more people are giving Rough Rider a try and posting about them. Some of those people are like you and me - long time collectors/accumulators .

I have too many knives (according to my wife) in my collection but ranking them in order of quanity:
1 Victorinox
2 Buck
3 Case
4 Schrade - USA
5 GEC

GEC by far. Pic missing 3 or 4..w/ another 2 due to land today and next week.

Schatt + Morgan/ Queen (Winchester BB included) to make up the next. Fight'N Rooster, Kissing Krane, SAKs....followed by various single examples...Opinel, Otter-Messer, A Wright..Cattaraugus.

I don't even keep these in the safe because I play w/, err.....*ahem*..I mean perform maintenance..clean/wipe/oil and inventory update :) regularly...
