What Brands Won't You Buy Again?

I agree,I have never had an interest in Crkt knives. When I need a knife I want the best I can afford, The Crkt's I have handled don't seem to be as good as I would trust to do the job at hand. By the way, what knives do you like?

What's the idea of bark river? I've seen some posts negative to them. What's the story behind this??????

I will never buy another...

Gerber - The new ones produced are just crap.

CRKT - I had a liner lock fail on me and got 8 stitches and loss of feeling up the left side of my left and plus a sweet scar.

New Schrade - Again crap like the gerbers

Smith and Wesson - I have had two of their pistols fail. One .357 relvoler blowed the cylender in half and a .22lr pistol slide cracked. If they produce shit pistols they probally produce shit knives.

Any fixed blade knife made by anyone other than RAT Cuttlery. I have the RC-4 and with the fit and finish of the knife and the preformace I will never need another and if I want a smaller or or larger one they got me covered. I am a life time loyal customer to RAT now.

....OOOOOh Boy, brace yourself and set a way a big chunk of time. Look in good, bad & ugly......and there goes the rest of the day:D

Smith and Wesson suck. They caved in to the gun control bs that was around a number of years ago. I wouldn't give them any business. They are p.o.s.!

Unless I was in a real pinch, I wouldn't buy anything from China. Same goes for the others that follow...
No Striders after seeing all the flap here at BFC about military service.
No Bark Rivers after learning more about Mike Stewart's past financial/business practices.
No Ontarios after seeing how they handled Jeff Randall & Mike Perrin at RAT.

FYI, Smith & Wesson knives are imported by Taylor Brands, the same company that imports and contracts the current Schrade knives. They have nothing to do with Smith and Wesson firearms...

once again, nothing that is not made in china, pakistan, far east(except japan)or any other 3rd world country that companies will set up in.whether they are made well or not.my main reaon being;i have about a dozen custom folders,(tighe,rj martin, crawford, strider, etc)& about 30 or so top production folders(bm710,730,zt 301,mcusta,+ others)so it makes no sense to me to buy some cheapies. i dont abuse my knives & beat the hell out of them,i only cut things meant to be cut with a knife.i sold off all my tawain knives except for an outdoor edge magna * a crkt kasper small professional,s2,& m16 titanium.even those i consider getting rid of sometimes.its funny how all the knives made in tawain & china use the same grey beadblast on the metal parts, & similar grooves in the liner lock for finger gripping, similar hardware ,too.

Spyderco,
For putting their name "Spyderco" on a Chinese made knife (Tenacious). They all ready had the Byrd line of Chinese made knives and I was fine with that, but when you take what is basically a Byrd knife and mark it Spyderco and mark the price up $10.00 to 20.00 that is out of line.

Right, and that makes all their OTHER knives bad.

MOD- had a nicely made 675 plunge lock, the edge geometry was terrible and it came dull and resisted any effort to make the entire blade sharp. The back would get razor sharp on my sticks and the front remained dull. I sold it lost money and just was glad to see it go!
CRKT- used to think they was fairly nice knives for the money, now after using them I think they are not worth the price charged.

Opinel.
After reading all the hype here I ordered a couple of non-American knives against my better judgement. How can people mention them in the "best out of box sharpness" threads when they don't even come with a sharpened edge!

For some reason a lot of people here confuse sharpness and geometry, which is probably why they were mentioned in said thread.

There's no company I'll never buy something from, but there are a few I'm very reluctant to purchase from due to the materials they use, the lack of ergonomics in their designs, the behavior of company reps etc.

Wow, people are really brand crazy here. A lot of you are closing doors to some possibly great future knives. Seems strange with how much I know that a lot of you love different knives, would just shut out some great, un-thought-of-yet design, steel, material, whatever. I guess I'd encourage most of you to just keep an open mind, or you may lose out on a great knife in the future because of a silly preconceived notion of quality or craftsmanship. Just a thought.

I dont think that most of the posters here are 100% certain that they wont buy from a company again they just dont find them worth buying from with the current designs and/or business practices.

That was when a British company, Tiomkins, owned S&W. They are now owned by an American company and fully support the 2nd. amendment.

Bark River and Strider are on my no buy list.

There are only a handful of brands I won't buy again due to a variety of issues: Schrade (Chicom rebranding), BRKT & Ontario (Scummy business practices), and CRKT (piss poor QC).

There is also a handful of brands I will never buy in the first place, but that is another thread filled with the usual rogues gallery.

Knives I used to buy,but no more are....

Winchester
Remington
Smith & Wesson
Colt...

....& all the other knives with American names,Made In China.

[edited to add]The exception being the Byrd line by Spyderco ,also the ones Kershaw & Benchmade has made in China. These I have found to be above par in quality.
