What Buck are you carrying today?

Today's carry is a Buck 703 my mother gave me for my birthday in '79 or '80. The 700 series was the first multiblade produced in-house by Buck. (The 300 series were still being produced by Camillus at that time.) I mention that because the blade steel of this knife appears to be 440C. The edge has that "carbide" feel. I did some searching and David Martin (RIP) also considered that the early 700 series knives may have had 440C blade steel.

Blade steel or not, I've always considered it a bit "blocky" for comfortable pocket carry, so I've never carried it all that much and much prefer the 300 series. But it is in my pocket today.

I ordered a couple of Buck 503’s last week. One for me and one for my buddy who has helped me out quite a bit in my travels back home when dealing with my dad in the nursing home. I had an engraving put on his blade and I will mail it to him tomorrow. I dropped it in my pocket as soon as I got it out of, the packaging. I think this is going to be a pretty handy every day carry pocket knife.

I'm good with all except the Vegemite. No offense, I know folks who love it. Just not for me. Sweet bayonet, tho.
No worries mate, no offence taken as I know it's not for everyone, it's very salty and an acquired taste that's for sure.
A bit of strawberry jam or peanut butter over the top usually helps.;)
The M9 was to be a rehandle project (Brass guard, stag center and alloy pommel) which is easy do due to the modular construction, but decided against that....for now.
