This same model hangs in my barn for all to use. Somehow it's never been lost!
I like how some knives start out as tools but over the years become more like very useful friends. That may sound a little silly to some but I bet more than a few here know what I’m talking about.Like me!It was my first brand new Buck. I received it in '97 from my best friend as an engagement gift. It's been around the block a bit and sports a pretty rounded off blade from a lot of use and sharpening. The Ranger makes a great all around knife and the way the blade has reprofiled itself lends itself to birds and fish.
It was made by Cedar Grove Leather, but the woman who ran it and sold on Etsy has closed her company. Sad for me as I really liked her work.I like how some knives start out as tools but over the years become more like very useful friends. BTW, that sheath looks like a great pairing with your 112 too.
That is sad. Looks like it was made well.It was made by Cedar Grove Leather, but the woman who ran it and sold on Etsy has closed her company. Sad for me as I really liked her work.
Yeah, I've had that one for about 50 years. It's gutted a lot of deer, scraped a lot of gaskets, cut up a bunch of sammiches, and sliced a lot of apples. And other stuff I forget about at the moment. Sometimes all in the same day. That divot from the snap is a tell tale mark from Bucks of a certain vintage! Mine shows the same.
I was afraid to ask.OK. I guess I don't get out enough. I know what rissole is, but what the heck is a grasshopper snag?

I'm glad you both posed the question. That one had me confused.I was afraid to ask.
The term 'Grasshopper' is Aussie slang for a Kangaroo. They jump, or hop, through the grass, so 'Grasshopper snag' is 'roo snags.OK. I guess I don't get out enough. I know what rissole is, but what the heck is a grasshopper snag?

Thanks. That clears it up.The term 'Grasshopper' is Aussie slang for a Kangaroo. They jump, or hop, through the grass, so 'Grasshopper snag' is 'roo snags.
The meat is very lean and high in iron, much more than beef, and cheap if you count road kill, lol.![]()
