What did you carry while deployed?

Strider MFS and multitool of the day on external chest Molle. Strider SNG in bolt bag. Spyderco Manix clipped to elastic on drop-leg holster. If I were going again I'd use the same set-up with the addition of either my Fehrman Last Chance or ESEE 5 in the bolt bag.

"Old guy" here...22 years from 1971 to 1993 active duty. During the 70's, various Buck and "Ka-bar" knives. In the 80's in Central America, a Randall Model 1 with a 6" blade, a Bucklite 112, and a SAK of some sort. Desert Shield/Desert Storm: Spyderco Mariner, Buck 112 and the Randall once more. Post-retirement: Randall Model 14 and a Spyderco Endura while in Sub-Saharan Africa in the 90's; a Benchmade Mini-AFCK, a SAK and the Randall Model 14 while in Colombia in the late 90's; Various Benchmade linerlocks and autos, a Cold Steel SRK, and various multi-tools during the 38 months I spent in Iraq.

God Bless all you guys for your service! My hats off to you all!
Ron

I was never in the military ( I'm only 13 lol) , but if I was I would chose the spyderco endura ffg, black leatherman wave and cold steel kobun.

You carry a sebenza in afganistan? Holy crap I would take a knife th war that costs 400 friggin dollars. Better hold on to that thing tight!

You're kidding right? I can't think of too many other places where I wouldn't want to carry the best equipment I could get a hold of.

I have been out quite a few years now
but I was an Air Force Security Forces member (AF MP)

i edc'd a gerber gator

Anybody carry a sebenza? I have one here but it never gets any pocket time.

Lots of thieves in the Military so one really has to keep track of/secure their stuff at all times.

Sad I know, but it's true.

Just a word of advice to those who are either in or thinking about going in.

Also the reason why I NEVER kept anything expensive around while I was in.

This is why it never leaves my side. :)

Carried a Valor lockback similar to the Buck 110. Tactical folders were not available in the 80's but we did have some cool fixed blades. I had a Gerber Mark I and a similar Valor dagger that were never carried. Carried an Ontario Pilot Survival Knife, or a Randall Model 14, and later I obtained a Soviet made ballistic knife.....Yes, Yes like the one in the video game. It didn't work so well though. Blade was a piece of junk but it looked menacing..... and don't ask me how I got it.:D

For OIF I and III, I carried a Leatherman at all times and my Benchmade/Bali-Song folder. (It looks more like a Spyderco than a Benchmade) Usually, I would carry my Benchmade Auto opener on my vest.

During Desert Storm, I carried a Steve Mullin fixed blade along with a Leatherman and the Benchmade folder. But, during OIF, we were advised to "not look too kinetic" and I didn't carry it on me.

I used a Benchmade stryker as a folder and a little gerber boot knife. I lost and found that Stryker three times in one year once.
