What Did You Cut with Your Buck (Yesterday or Today)?

Used my 110 to clean a grouse that my new hunting partner (Aussie dog) and I got while up in the mountains.

ALthough I've been under the weather for the past couple of days (kidney stones :( ), I've used my trusty Mayo TNT to trim the bottom of a plant cutting to allow for better root stimulation, opened a couple of boxes, and cut up a steak the other night at the local Applebees.

...Oh man Mike...Can I ever relate:eek: ...Hope things are "passing" okay for ya...Get well quick buddy...Hope your Thanksgiving is a good one...:)

Mike,

So sorry to hear that you have a kidney stone :( . I hope it's not an epidemic with us Buck nuts!!!!!!! I don't like the pain at all. Hope you are feeling well soon ;) . Oh, and I think you need to buy a new knife......That will help the stone to pass!!!!!!!

Hope you get well soon, Mike. Preston

Well, let's see.....right side has a stone stuck mid-ureter. Left side has a huge stone (8mm) still in the kidney. Both are scheduled for departure on December 4th. It's going to be a fun couple of weeks until then.

What knife/knives did you use Gary?

Today, I punched holes in my frozen SOS and cut open a hedger box with my 119. Also used the 298GY to cut some cable ties and plastic wrap of a boxzed turkey fryer (had to get a new one as a part was missing after I loaned it out).

Mike...bummer about the stones. I hope I never have t ogo through that!!!

:( ...Holy crapola Mike...and I thought I had it bad...Is it gonna be a "wet-lithotripsy" procedure Mike???...the procedure where ya spend time in the "pool" ?...We do them almost weekly at work. I hope we ain't starting a trend here in the forum. That one in the ureter has to be a bummer...My thoughts are with you my friend. Please have a really nice "uneventful" Thanksgiving today...

Well today I'll use one of my holiday tin 110's from last season to use on my turkey dinner.

Do I at least get some anesthesia with that knife?? :o

Mike,

Pain is all in the mind!!!!! The only anesthesia you need is to shop for and buy a new Buck knife.......see the power of the mind!!!!!!! Oh and get DarrylS to give you a script for some high dose Vicodin :D . Not for the pain...you see...just to relax you during the hunt for your new knife.

For those of you who don't know...kidney stones are some of the worst pain a guys can go through. They compare the pain to child birth.....However, when I pissed out a 2 carrot sized stone a year ago....the Doc said in his opinion that kidney stones were worse pain than child birth.......Mike keep taking your pain med's and drink enough water to sink a large ship!!!!!!!

'05 501 Squire, cut 550 cord to replace worn bootlaces, and dinner. I know it's a bit weird, but it just cuts better than the crappy steak knives I have.

WOW Great deer season this year.
Yesterday the second to last day of deer season here, my wife got her first whitetail deer. It was her fourth year of hunting. Browning A-Bolt .30-06 did its job just fine! Then it was up to her trusty Buck Knife to field dress it.
I had to help (a little) using her Buck Alpha folder. Tonight I just finished butchering it up with my alpha 193 (ats-34 Still sweet :D )
and my 119 Special.

Your pick-a-nick baskets are safe from me from now on, Ranger Dave!

Booboo Buddy and I will exit stage left (right behind Snagglepuss) and look for softer targets!

Okay . . . I cut a lot of miscellaneous stuff around the house this weekend, as we had my sister and my twin nephews (age 14) from Wednesday night until this afternoon. No, I did not cut the nephews, but a couple of times . . .

Anyway . . . GLOBE GRAPES. If any of you don't know what globe grapes are, they are big, red, juicy, sweet grapes. They're usually about twice the size of the normal seedless table grapes, but they taste a lot better. The only down side is that they had 2-5 big seeds in them. It's a pain to eat them and spit out the seeds, so a few years ago I developed a new technique for eating them. I shall now divluge my secret, but remember me when you do it too!

0. Be ready with a sharp blade, preferably a Buck 110.

1. Obtain a globe grape and remove the stem. You may use your knife at this point to slice away anything near where the stem was attached if you choose, but it's optional.

2. Make a cut around the circumference of the grape by holding the blade in place while rotating the grape (around the axis made by the stem and seeds) and applying light pressure. Your goal is to cut just to the depth of the seeds and no further.

3. Pull the two halves of the grape apart. Usually you will have one half that is seedless, and one half will now have the seeds, protruding from it. Use the point of your knife to flick the seeds into/onto a suitable surface or container for disposal (probably where you put the stem).

4. Commence to eatin' the two now seedless globe grape halves. Enjoy the sweet, grapey goodness.

5. Fetch another globe grape and repeat steps #1-4.

6. Think about rhino and how cool he was for sharing this globe grape enjoyment technique with you.

The technique above will work for any grapes with seeds, but in my opinion only globe grapes are big enough and tasty enough to warrant the effort.

This weekend, I used my trusty Buck 110 with BG-42 upgrade.
