What did you rehang today?

Thank you. I bought the handle at local fair. Just shaped it to fit head. Shaped hand grooves. Oiled few times. And leather sheath is an old wallet I cut up and and put rivets in. And the leather Holster is for a revolver but the hatchet fit perfectly to hook up to belt or a pack.

My second time hanging a head. Came out ok. Gift for my brother.all comments welcome.

Yeah, excellent tool. You can't buy cool like that.

Kelly Perfect is great steel. Your workmanship is good but you may not like my other comments.

I'd loose the steel wedge. Or if you use it drive it 90° to the wood wedge. The grips on the haft aren't helpful. The beveled swell has lost its function - it should get wider not taper off like that. The doily hanging from it is very pretty. Can you crochet one for my wife? She likes it.

Ok, not sure why that is making me laugh this much.

tapRAQbang, this isn't directed at your tool but:

I mean, if it's good enough for spare toilet paper and teapots...

Winter is coming :)

Finish this one today except for finishing on sharpening as the handle is still a bit tacky and probably will add one more coat of Tru-oil.

Thanks all. This is the one I received a couple of days ago. It's a 3 1/2 lbs Gransfor and reuse the handle, it turned out real nice even though there is a slight twist to it.
This is what it look like when I got it.

Good job on the little hatchet Hacked. I just received a few handles today finally so I can do a couple more.

Thanks, this one actually feels surprisingly good in use. This is the second head I've hung on this handle. The first one I was never happy with. This is definitely not an axe to use standing up unless whatever you are working on is well elevated.

I know what you mean marbat I have 4 heads waiting to be hafted. I took a break for a while to focus on some other stuff. Hopefully I'll be ordering some new handles soon as well.

Here's a different type of handle I worked on recently.

And another that I need to finish up.

I just finished this for a friend, he said he wanted a DB and I had this head laying around. No markings other than B25 stamped on one side, eye ridges and traces of red paint lead me to believe it's a True Temper. He studies Viking history so I added a few runes for fun.

Super clean looking wedge there Smith.

Do the runes say/mean anything? Not that it matters, of course.

The runes say Vidnarr, axe of Sven, Vidnarr was a son of Odin and it also means forest warrior or so says the internet. :) and the mans name who it was put together for is Sven.
