actually based on his own measurements and the size of a GW, which they are all about the same width it is fairly easy to determine the width of his edge at the last inch of blade.
Can someone post a pic of GW that is missing most of it's ricasso, like his. I have not seen one like it.
Although I agree with you guys that what Nozh did to that edge of his is a result of poor sharpening, I do claim that not all Game Wardens come out of the factory with the same blade width. I'm sure someone else must have noticed this, too, or at least could if they checked all their GWs - I don't have that many compared to
some guys. There are noticeable variations up to several millimeters - most often it seems to be between 1 and 2 mm, sometimes more. I managed to dig up this old pic to illustrate - it is crappy quality, the dates are all screwed up and the camera flash looks stupid, but hey, it's my pic, that's how they are.
These two Game Wardens had a 1.5 mm difference in blade width - out of the box, no modifications, no resharpening at all. You will notice the black one is much smaller looking. Well, it is. It's not an optical illusion, either. I've measured it quite a few times.
As for the ricasso part, I'm not sure I understand what you mean with that, Cobalt? It seemed to that Nozh's GWs have their ricassos where they should be as they should be - nothing missing - unless I'm confusing the meaning of the word (which could happen).
Anyway, I find it pretty interesting that Nozh didn't bother to mention that he had modified his GW. His measurements don't make sense, but that is not new...
