What do you have that is scary sharp?,,,

I like the standing hair test myself (chest hair works the best). This has been done with my Broadwell sub-hilt in ATS-34 (both edges

), Ralph EDC in 420V, Sebenza in BG-42 (and even the damascus), Blackjacks in A-2 and 1095, Marbles in 52100 and my 85 yr. old in 1095, Microtechs in 154 CM, Opinels in carbon steel and even my Cold Steel Trailmaster in Carbon V. Really no secret to that scary sharp edge, a good heat treat and a little patience during the sharpening and stropping will yield this everytime. I did have a variety of blades in ATS-34 by a reputable company that would NEVER do this. I always thought that it was just the steel. Then I got the Broadwell, a GenO Denning and some MT's (in similar 154 CM) and saw just how this steel could perform. Needless to say, I no longer buy blades from that certain company anymore and only have one sentimental keeper left from the days when I did.

.sharpest out of the box was an ATS-55 Delica like bad4u have a reprofiled SRK and Recon Tanto, but the easiest to get and keep scary sharp is my little Opinel, with flat ground carbon steel, not very exotic ..but handy

Mine is my Marbles Trailmaker.

Hair popping sharp right out of the box and so far very little difference, if any, after repeated use.

One problem though. When I got it I noticed the sheath was slightly torqued but paid it little mind.

I took the knife from the cardboard sleave and sheathed it.

Then holding the sheath in my left hand , unsheathed it. I felt this strange little tingler in my middle finger but it was so minor I didn't pay any attention to it until I noticed these little red drops. YUP, slit it pretty good and right through the heavy leather sheath which had a 4 inch razor slit running up the back.

Kinda pissed me off and Marbles wanted $20 to replace the sheath. (THAT SUX)

I fixed it by attaching a Gerber 600 multi tool sheath over the cut.

Now I have a nice "package" that included a very sharp Trailmaker (BIG BLADE) with a handy tool that has a small blade and all the other gizmos that is un-noticeable when carrying and an all around great combo.

As far as "scarry sharp", this is it. The 11 inch blade makes it even scarrier.

That BM 710 pic is kinda screwing up the post. Can it be resized so everybody doesn't have to pan back and fourth to read?

My Calypso Jr. Lt. in VG-10 is awfully sharp, as are my Marbles in 52100. I also have a small hunter handforged by Lee Reeves in 52100 that takes a wicked edge...it will cut you for thinking about touching it. I like 1095 also for taking a keen edge.

Forgot about my Spyderco Police fully serrated folder. The smooth action and the razor sharp serrated edge are responsible for more knuckle bites than any other folder I have.

Because of the lock back design it likes to swing shut on fingers if you aren't careful.

Oh well who needs all 8 fingers anyway? That's probably why God gave us so many:^)

My RJ Martin kozuka (A2 blade steel). I nicked myself playing with it once and didn't even feel it.

Hartsfield Tanto (A2)
Howard Clark Tanto (L6)
Ruple Stockman (ATS34)

sharpest is mt D2 enhanced REKAT SIFU special edition - old # 24/75-just got back from bob brothers and he touched it up a little - also my BM AFCK, CRKT C/KFF, and my Sebenza, of course!!

i like to keep all my knives sharp as i can - use a soft ark, a DMT duofold fine/extra fine, and a norton fine india stone, and a henkel steel, and a little time will do it to all of them

I have a crawford kasper with the AUS-6m blade. It is nasty sharp... done on a Spydie sharpmaker. Passes both the hair test, and the floating paper test with flying colors. I think Archangel should tell everyone about his scary sharp entire collection....

I know the hair test, but what is the floating paper test?
Thanks

P.S. Spydercos are probably the sharpest things right out of the box; with some touch-up, I guess even a letter opener can have a wicked edge.

my kershaw boa was sharpest out of the box, it cut me pretty deep when i was trying to reverse the thumbstud. Large sebbie wasn't very sharp, but i got it at Stodards so it had been handled some i'm sure, once i touch it up it'll probably old the edge for a while, assuming bg-42 is all it's cracked up to be, as people have said.

Absolute Scariest: Marbles Trailcraft
Very Scary: Cold Steel Bird & Trout
Scary Sharp: Spyderco Military

As good as the Military is, the Marbles and Cold Steel knives are in a totally different league of sharpness. Those non-stainless steels seem to take a completely different kind of edge. It's too bad, as I'm a big stain resistance fan.

Shaving Sharp: Cold Steel Peace Keeper II

One of these days I'm going to see what kind of edge my Gerber A/F Covert will take ... ATS-34, yee-haw. Oooh, and my girlfriend's new SOG Vision should take quite an edge, too.

1. Camillus EDC in 154CM, reprofiled on an Edge-Pro and polished with 600 grit waterstone. It will cleanly shave hair and glides through paper as if it isn't even there.

2. Ka Bar USMC in 1095. It's not quite up with the EDC, but it's close.

3. CRKT M16 in AUS 8. This one will also cleanly shave hair and cut paper.

4. REKAT Fang. VERY sharp little fixed blade. This one has been mirror polished with a 3000 grit polishing tape with the Edge Pro. An edge you can see your reflection in that will cut like there's no tomorrow.

5. CRKT Mirage. The plain edge portion of this knife is right up there with the M16.

All of my knives are very sharp, but these ones stand out in my mind. All of them have been sharpened on my Edge Pro. None of them came nearly as sharp as they are now.
