What do you have that is scary sharp?,,,

A few. But my KP puuko [forged "silver steel"] and my Weston fixed blade [it's only 440C] stand out. My Hattori damascus kitchen knives are also pretty scary [a core of VG10]

My scary sharp test is generally to lather-up and shave my face. If I get a comfortable shave that compares well with my straight razor I smile. I don't get this performance out of the box. Usually I thin the factory bevel down and go through a multi-step honing and stropping process.

My current sharpest is a Browning lockback made out of AUS-8. It is a pocket straight razor. I've got a lot of other scary sharp knives. My Calypso Junior is right up there and so is my Starmate.

I keep everything at least shaving sharp, but so far:

From the makers:
Fallkniven F1
One of my Busse 5's (oddly, each Basic I own had varying degrees of edges).

As for the scariest, I touched up a used CRKT Stiff KISS (tanto, chisel grind) and had started playing around with a strop...I'd swear I didn't even touch it all the way to my arm and still had a bunch of missing arm hairs!

Out of all my production, and customs, I think the sharpest knife I now own is my Tom Mayo TNT in talonite that I just picked up from him at the Oregon Knife Show.
I usally have to touch up my blades when I first get them home, but this TNT is by far the sharpest I have ever received without touching up.
I learned how to sharpen blades over 30 years ago from working at a meat plant from butchers, and can do a pretty good edge, but the TNT just didn't need it.
Gets my vote.

Murray Carter, the first caucasian to head a Japanese cutlery house (the 17th head of a 400 year-old business), makes some knives that are really scary sharp. He frequently uses Hitachi "White Steel", which he says isn't exported to the U.S. His outdoor and tactical knives have some impressive edges, but his chisel grind sushi knives are truly INSANELY sharp.

I have several high carbon steel knives that are scary..but I like stain-less for some reason..

CRKT Mirage - AUS8
CRKT S-2 (best ATS-34 I've ever had)
Carson Neck F-4 BG-42

All of the above were reprofiled, Kits F-4 took the longest. I took ALL the hair off a 2'x4' patch of my arm with the S-2 one night, demonstrating it's sharpness. The edge is VERY thin though and is prone to rolling.

Best out of the box and still not needing a touchup - Berreta Electra VG-10 - made in Seki Japan. A gents knife that doesn't get too much use...but boy is it sharp!

I just gave away a Spydie Jess Horn Ltwt. to a newbie. I wasn't even planning on buying it in the store, but I looked at it funny and my finger started bleeding. So I had to have it. A glass-smooth lockback sealed the deal.

Most all my knives are devilishly sharp. One of the only things that I am truly proud of. Recently I have taken to stropping with a system mentioned by Yvsa in the HI Forum.
I managed to get a Cheetlang soooo sharp that when the edge lightly bumped my wrist, the edge slid right in , nicking a vein on it's way! It sure is amazing what trouble it can be stopping the blood flow from a vein. Well I have bonded with the little beasty now, and love it all the more for reminding me to pay attention when handling my sharp items.
To Coletassoft, the floating paper test mentioned earlier is a little game we like to play, where you drop an 8x10 sheet of paper, and attempt to cut it in half while it is falling to the floor. It is harder than it sounds, but fun.

My little RAKER utility (52100 blade) is the sharpest knife I have ever handled. I won't even try to sharpen this one myself. If it ever gets dull I think I'll just send it to Ray to sharpen.

Hmm..scary sharp. I'm assuming you mean so sharp you can cut yourself if you just touch the blade. I've got a small Schrade folder like that, and so is my Cold Steel Voyager. My SRK and Recon Tanto are also very sharp. Cut myself a couple of times just by accidentally touching the blades.

Well it came as no surprise when I tested the edge on the newest acquisition I got, Dozier Buckhunter, that the D-2 popped the hair. Edge felt a bit rough but after a couple minutes with my Sharpmaker it now is smooth and sharper than ever!

I dug this up, but wanted to make a couple of comments. I have several pretty sharp knives, but my best ones are:

* RJ Martin Kozuka (A2)
* Murray Carter Kitchen knife (Forged laminated white steel)
* Wally Hayesc ustom (O1)

All of these are truly awesome!

My Dozier Pro Guide (D2) is "Dozier sharp."

That's just beyond "scary sharp."

I have a Second Generation LCC DA that is so damn sharp, it conserns me. I've brushed the blade twice and been cut. Problem is, I didn't know it until I noticed the blood. (I think it's out to get me :eek

My sharpest knife is my Dozier Yukon Pro Skinner, followed by my Dozier Elk Hunter. These are ridiculously sharp!
More surprizing, however, is my CS Recon Scout, which starts out 5/16" thick at the spine, but takes and holds a sharper edge better than all but my Doziers. Oddly, my other Recon Scout, and my Trailmaster have a thicker edge than my "good one", and while sharp, don't compare. And I don't have the patience or skill to properly rework an edge the size of these.
