What do you think your collection is valued at?

I was going through my knives today and totally up what I've spent on knives over the past year and a half or so I've been collection, and it came out to about $1,000 to which I responded , given that I'm a "poor" college student. I'm sure my collection pales in comparison to many of your all's. So, what do you guys put your total collection's value at?

Are we talking money spent or what we could sell them for?

On what I could sell for... probably $650+ or so. What I've spent probably... <$800.

What I've spent? $5000 wouldn't surprise me

There are custom bowies and fighters that easily go for $10k

Then again, knives are one of my passions in life. I live quite frugally in every other aspect. Ramen=Knives :D

edit: I own less than 30 knives.

Eh... probably a couple grand. I try not to think about it. Dangit I feel like I need to sell some now. :(

I've probably spent several thousand. Probably couldn't sell them all for more than $1000, probably a lot less.

But they're worth a lot more to me. Every scratch that I've put on a knife that lessens it's monetary value just increases its sentimental value to me.

I've said it before, a knife never feels like it's truly mine until it has its first scratch. In my opinion, excluding custom art pieces, a knife isn't a knife until it's cut something... a production safe queen isn't any better than a $5 gas station knife from a plastic tub.

I use em all. I even mod some of em. Some people think I'm crazy for "butchering" a $750 custom. When I buy a knife, I've already written the money off as a loss. If it can't be used, I won't own it. That's why I traded a 98 Brend Nemi for 2 first prod run UT6's (born in 2000) and a NIB Infidel.

I don't modify my knives because I'm not that brave and well, haven't come up with a way to modify the ones I have yet anyway (except maybe Para-Mil handle - I might shorten/smooth it), but I use all my knives, regardless of cost. I commend you for the same!

My wife knows how much all of my knives (and hers) cost. Furthermore, she says they are worth it :D I married the perfect woman.

Over the past few years I would say around $3000+, of what I own currently I would say around $1500

I'm down to about $1000 worth. I was as high as $3-4k, but I didn't care to have that much.

Spending several thousand dollars on knives really isn't that crazy when you consider that the average person spends thousands on electronics that devalue to a third of their worth within a few years.

Very true point. I have a $700 laptop that crapped out on me and is now out of warranty just sitting in a closet, most likely never to be used again.

You can still use your knives when the power goes out :p

I am not really sure, four or five thousand I expect. I don't keep count because to me, they are each priceless in their own way.
