What do you think your collection is valued at?

I had mine insured recently and realized its worth enough for me as a fellow student and decided I will only insure my high end folders to bring the premiums down! ha ha!
 
A couple thousand... plus or minus a couple thousand.

Market determines the value of any given knife and I've seen few brands that consistently rise in value.
 
I just made a spreadsheet to count out the worth of my knives, and it came out at around $2k. This is in the last year.

Trust me, your collections are worth more than you think they are. Count each knife and what you paid for it, and you'll definitely find that it's more than you think.

I guessed $800 before I made the spreadsheet. The total came out to $1500 (which was added to by my $550 XM-18).
 
This is a great thread - thanks for starting it. Some fun reading. And no, I'm not going to tell you what my knives are worth. (Let's just say it's closer to a BMW than a Civic.)
 
I prefer to be blissfully ignorant as to the total cost, errrr, value.
 
I find it funny how the guys that have a collection around 2k or less in value post with no problem. When its over 4 or 5 k people become reluctant hehe. Id love to see how much some of the busse collectors spend. Ive seen a few guys selling knives that add up to around 10k in knives =). I know there are a few guys on this forum (that ive seen over the years) that probably have 200k plus spent on knives. No names, but you know who you are:)

Although I'd been carrying a knife or two since birth, I started buying (er, searching) with gusto back in February or so. About 4 months later I did a quick count and realized I'd already spent more than $1k, so I put myself on probation. Then after a couple of months I let my guard down and a couple of weeks later realized I'd just spent another $500 or so...and I'm sure I've bought a few more since then but I'm afraid to count. Sound familiar guys and girls?

(except for some that I'm now selling....so I can buy more of course:p).
