What do you think your collection is valued at?

Incidentally, I think there should be a membership level that excludes your ability to enter and view the 'for sale by individuals' forum. I'll pay to not be able to see that, because I am compelled to look, and the rest... well, you know..

An interesting idea. But it would have to block access to eBay too or there would be no point.:D

I wouldn't even attempt to guess, with 300+ in my collection, rangin' from vintage 18th century lobster patterns to custom made modern tacticals and bought for anywhere from $1-$500 for 'em, I couldn't even guess.

In the last year I have spent way more on Knife Making equipment than knives. But I did get hooked on RAT knives so with a few of those and quite a few autos I'd have to say $2500. I think I've spent more than that on beer this year...Mmm BEER!

Yep, and cutleryshoppe.com and kershawguy (sorry Dave)...possibly yourcornerstore.com. Those ones alone have taken, oh, almost $1k from me this year. Ah, who am I kidding, I'd just find somewhere else. Maybe we need a mandatory 2 week waiting period as you do with firearms. Or follow the advice of the guy who takes a look at his credit card statement every time he feels the compulsion to buy something, he said that it usually cools him off enough...usually..

haha, I remember doing a quick calculation part-way through college and realizing I'd already spent at least $5k on alcohol. And I really thought I was doing an okay job of living frugally. Man that was fun..

Haha, I could have bought a small Sebenza with the amount of money I've spent on alcohol since the school year started.

One could not buy a Mora with what I have spent on booze in the last the last 45years . I had a beer 45 years ago at a class reunion and one 20 years ago at a class reunion.:D

Knives on the other hand, Not a clue, but waaaaaaaaay to much.

To make it easy, I have about 40 knives, average value (ebay value) would be around $65, so doing the math.... 2600 if you add in my stones and wheels, oil, tuffglide, compound and strops, about 3k.

about a thousand dollars, gave a few to my brothers for helping me out earlier this year.

I find it funny how the guys that have a collection around 2k or less in value post with no problem. When its over 4 or 5 k people become reluctant hehe. Id love to see how much some of the busse collectors spend. Ive seen a few guys selling knives that add up to around 10k in knives =). I know there are a few guys on this forum (that ive seen over the years) that probably have 200k plus spent on knives. No names, but you know who you are:)

yep, its part of why I havnt jumped to customs yet, granted seeing some of the peeps over the years with big dollar collections they are still down to earth unlike other hobbies i'm in (such as drag racing where he with the most money wins, and he with the most money is usually an asshole)...if I did I would spend WAY too much money...at least with mid-range production knives i limit myself lol.

Almost 10 years ago, I joined this site and I learned about so many other knives. Before that, I thought the BM970 was king. I recently got into customs and now I can't see myself going back.

As much as I like my customs and mid-techs, I'll never give up my Spydercos Cases, and Queens :)

I'm only a user, and a lot of factory knives work just as hard as a custom... they just don't have the higher price tag, and I can deal with that pretty well :D

geez guys iam an old guy realy old and ihave been madly in love with knives for as long as ican remember.ivalue my collection at roughly 5ooo.00 and have them insured for that amount. however tome personaly i wouldnt take a kings ransom for them. chuck v heart of the high lands ontario canada
