What do you think your collection is valued at?

prolly $1500 or so, and I dont have that many...not even customs or semi customs...when i start getting customs i dread to think about it.

Let's see. 113 knives with an average value of approx $20-$25 = somewhere in the neighborhood of $2500.

I've spent about $2500 (+ or - 500) on knives so far and have only had to return four for repairs. I'm not counting the damaged one I got last week because technically I didn't spend any money on it after a refund.

My knives are probably worth more than my car.........that could be alot or that could be a little :p

Without going through them and adding it up, I'd say at least 8000. But, nearly all of mine are NIB. (and I've got more than just Spydercos)

I have about $1500 worth that I use. I can think of at least another $500 I will spend on stuff I want.

My knife buying habit will never end.

I'm probably a tad over $3000 in what I paid for my knives. Like others have said, comparitively the money is worth it. My oldest knife still cuts like new.;)

Who knows what my collection would go for if I tried to sell it. Much less than what I've paid for it, no doubt.

SInce becoming active on BFC in the last couple of years my collection has increased exponentially. I suspect I've spent as much on knives during this calendar year as I had during any 3-4 year period previously.

I've sold off several of them that just weren't quite what I like since going Gold in January, but I still have a bunch more knives than I could ever hope to wear out. I got lucky with some of my older Benchmades and Spydercos in that they had become collectible after being discontinued and I doubled (or better) my investment in some of them. Of course, there were also some that I sold at a loss. That's right, green titanium Kershaw Bump, I'm talking about you!

I'm guessing at the moment they are worth $2500 to $3000, maybe?

Hey, this is Bladeforums, Who cares, what difference does it make?
Money's gone and forgotten. Knives are here, and it has been an enjoyable journey.

At least $2,000.+ since the mid-80's, most of it recently. Since I buy mostly "users", I'm happy with what I've got. Two benefits from that: I get a great knife I'm not afraid to use, and the collector interest is usually nil, so no regret using it.

thx - cpr

Over the past 3 years..... I have spent more than the cost of a new Honda Civic, but, less than the cost of a new BMW 3 series ;) The value of my collection ....I'd have to find my spread sheet, then, spend about a day updating it. :D

I've probably spent several thousand. Probably couldn't sell them all for more than $1000, probably a lot less.

But they're worth a lot more to me. Every scratch that I've put on a knife that lessens it's monetary value just increases its sentimental value to me.

I've said it before, a knife never feels like it's truly mine until it has its first scratch. In my opinion, excluding custom art pieces, a knife isn't a knife until it's cut something... a production safe queen isn't any better than a $5 gas station knife from a plastic tub.

also my philosophy on my knives and tools...you have articulated my thoughts exactly...

About $600 spent and resale value is about....$600 over a few years.

I'm not a hoarder (sp?) or collector. Just a guy who owns a few knives and carries one or two each day. They are tools imo. No safe queens. I own about 18 knives. I could easily unload a few and be content with a few EDCs (Mini grip, delica, boker trance), a few SAKs, and few Kabar/Becker types for hiking/camping. I'm somewhat of a minimalist in many regards and no desire to own a Sebenza (although I might own a Yuna one day...).

In past 4 years with all knives and puukko's? Thanks to VAt and Finnish prices it must be closer to $2500+ USD's

huh im waiting to see some of these big time money makers with there huuuge collections of scagels and high dollar customs. The guys that spend more in a week then we make in a year. a rough estimate id say id spent 20k...5k of that in the last year.
