What do you want to see in 2017?

One more wish list would be Case to make a seahorse whittler in CV. It's a beautiful knife designed as a Carver but never come in a carvers steel, an easy to sharpen carbon steel.

I would like to see Case bring back there square bolstered 3 7/8" Stockman, preferably with cv blades. I would also like to see Case bring back carbon steel backsprings.

I want to see a 66 slim, with full clip point main and coping secondary, Northfield cocobolo trim. Already put that request in to GEC, dunno if they're the listening type or not.

I'd love to see more camp/scout & hobo knives from all makers.

More fixed blades from them too. Especially GEC, because I love their fixed blades.

I'd see (and buy...:rolleyes:) a #77 barlow with the last clip blade and one copy!!!

Based on a recent thread here, I would like to see a classic cartridge series of knives. Maybe a camp knife, a whittler, a trapper etc. just like the yellow rose knives but with a nod to the Camillus run.

I would like to see a sowbelly from GEC or Northwoods.
Cattle and stockman, but what would be truly impressive would be a whittler...

Has anyone seen a sowbelly splitback whittler?
------
A single bladed Gentleman's steak knife.
A Saddlehorn with abalone or mammoth, dressed up bolsters, and a quality stainless steel, flat ground

With a workman's counterpoint with the normal scaled (stag, micarta, jigged bone) with a carbon steel.

This would also work with a dogleg jack, powderhorn or toothpick. But the new pattern would be an eye catcher.

Shrink the #98 camp knife to a under 4 inch equal end multi blade scout knife. Canvas micarta scales or denim, dark ebony and a dark red peach seed jigged bone scales.

.....would like to see Jared Oeser mentor two or three apprentices to start producing the awesome slippies he does

I'm slightly afraid Oeser will get sucked into flippers and the commercial pull of the tactical folder/flipper.........but hey, that's someone elses gain and our loss :D

I actually asked him about that back in the spring, and he told me that he makes knives so infrequently that his work wouldn't sustain a meaningful apprenticeship :(

- aah, that's interesting to know, thank you.

So, it's a real (obviously highly invested in) 'hobby'/part-time knife making pursuit for him.

I am gob-smacked at his quality........you could look at a selection of folders on a table and pick his out immediately...........I so wish he'd make more, I'd love to be able to buy one of his slippies - over here in UK, little/no chance!

Today I want a #55 in Osage Orange. It would look exactly like this #18.

I'd like to see wharncliffe and spear points again. I want to see them in every type of wood that GEC has ever offered plus a few surprises.

From GEC i would like to see a 3" doctors knife with spatula secondary.
From Case i would like to see the return of sleeve-board and Eisenhower patterns.
From Queen i would like to see improved blade grinds.
And against all odds, I would very much like to see the return of Canal Street Cutlery.

I would like to see gec do another stockman on the 81 pattern. This time with the same nice clip main with long pull, but make the straight a wharncliff and the third a pen blade.

More traditionals in different steel options. 154cm for example-not really that exotic anymore. Better QC from Queen. Somebody, anybody, a canittler in D2 or better steel(not 1095 please). A few full size copperheads, maybe with a wharnie main since Case is shelving the pattern. More to be added later, possibly.
Thanks, Neal

I wouldn't mind seeing Bark River finally enter into the folder market. If they put the same unique handle materials and killer blade steels onto some decent traditional folders that would be amazing.

Yep! I'd be in for that. Maybe some Barlow & stockman patterns.

Other than that, I'd like GEC to make a big run of sawcut #77 Barlows, so maybe I could snag one this time around.
