Why not just ream the scale holes out a little to fit the 5s ? The original screws could still be used, but then you'd have the option to go SS when you wanted to.

The heads of the 5 sized bolts I found (Philips head, Allan, Hex and Slot) were all too large to fit the space for the bolt heads too. I'd have to make them bigger too, probably ruining my scales.

Don't knock it until you try it.

But YOU first! :D

But I insist, kind sir, you first:p

Can anyone confirm that UNC #6-32 is the correct size for the BK-14 scales?

Would be interesting! Found out that the only ones I found in stores were ISO M5 (for the nuts that would fit) and ISO M4 for the bolts, but they wouldn't fit the 5 ofcourse. However, the ISO M4 was the smallest size nut I could found, and they were even a tad to wide for the scales, but they could be forced through.

I'll get back at your e-mails asap, btw

Look what came in the mail today :D

Congrats on the new 14. I got my wife one for Christmas. I always have mine in my pack.

Yeah I missed my old one so much since I sold it, I just had to get a new one :D and I'm happy I got one with the old coating.

Bam.
Benchmade mini-grip, fine edge, 154CM.
I like it.
crying out for flat custom G10 scales? you know it.

If there was an option for flat g10 scales directly from Benchmade I would still have one. That said, a minigrip like yours could still be in my future.

yeah, it's too bad that's not available. The available aftermarket scales seem to cost as much as the knife. However making a set for this knife would be good practice for me as I head toward making folders.

Galeocedoshark i got the shark teeth thanks bud!

the edge on one of the larger teeth works perfect as a ferro rod striker without any adjustments needed. ill see if i can come up with a small handle idea to add to the tooth, either way it works as is and produces plenty of sparks!!

They are definitely spendy. I just couldn't warm up to whatever the heck that handle material is.

Got a JP Enterprises fire control group and low mass hammer used for cheap today from a local guy. Just installed it and wow, talk about a nice light crisp break. Now my AR15 is almost complete. I still might change hand guards and I want to get some open sights for it.

Nice, daizee.

How do you like the handle length?

Well, there's the handle length and the usable handle length.
Overall it's fine for what I expect from an EDC. If I were re-designing it, I'd carry the finger groove/guard area further forward. As-is, I think it forces your hand toward the back further than necessary on an already compact grip.

The mini grip I handled was pretty small in my hand, as well. Not any extra room on my 551 either.
I agree with moving the finger guard forward. If they made a 50/50 choil similar to Spyderco, I would be all over it.

There's a project for ya.:D
