What Happened to the ZT 0888?

I hope any company with employees to pay and other bills makes a decent profit off everything they produce. I would also think they would have the good business sense to adjust the prices they charge accordingly.

Makes sense, I'm just happy to see a company taking chances and pushing the envelope a little bit giving us more and better choices. I hope the strategy is profitable for them so they can continue to do the same and more.

I'm new here so take my opinions with a grain of salt. I was at the show in Jersey City and I didn't see any custom knives equal for the price on the 0600 and 0777's I have. Materials, blade steel, fit and finish on my examples were superior to customs for the same price. MSRP or secondary for that matter. I saw plenty of customs with lesser steel, usually S30V that were dull, not centered with blade play and the action wasn't as good as mine.

I hope ZT or KAI is making money off these one way or another and I hope a lot of people get stuck with their 0888's trying to cash in. From what I can see the S110-V steel on the 0888 may be a watse being a composite.

I have no idea which makers you were looking at but every single custom I've owned in the $500-$700 range has been flawless.

I was at the show recently in Jersey City on Sunday. Many exhibitors had been sold out and were absent but I was looking mainly in the 500-700 range for folders only. Some makers were still there and several dealers with examples from many makers. And again I saw a combination of dull S30V, off centered blades, bladeplay, sharp corners and flippers that had a very weak detent and would not flip without a wristflick. I was close to pulling the trigger on two but decided against it. I have a Field Grade Bodega due in the mail any day, so I decided to wait or realized I have to spend a little more for something flawless. I saw nothing for $500 to match my 0777 and 0600 for materials and fit and finish and I spent $800 for those two. I prefer not to mention any makers all were very nice and helpful. I found many flawless in the 1,000-2000 range. This was my first real expereince with customs but that is what I saw.
