What is an EDC blade?

I did enjoy this one, no need to start a new thread when you can just bump up an old one.

Personally I think a EDC knife, is a knife that can get daily jobs done, and is not from such a size to scare people off. Sizewise I think it has to be between, dragonfly - delica size. With dragonfly the minimum, and delica the max.
Before my delica, I had a buck vantage small, real nice size for every day tasks.

Also, it has to be quite strong and good looking. Not only is it a tool, but also a fashionable object.

Two definitions I've seen used for "edc" are;
A) knives that "could be" carried every day for standard daily tasks; typically small(er) and light(er) weight, thin profiles; and while it varies from person to person, it typically stands to be your 3" locking folders (give or take), your SAK's and traditionals, keychain knives, and 4" fixed blades (give or take); since, while there are exceptions for every rule, "most folks" don't want (or need) to EDC a 5" or 7oz. + folder, or a 7"+ fixed blade to go grab a gallon of milk and and some eggs at the grocery store...

B) the "exception to every rule" definition that covers those differences from person to person, is the actual knives you do carry every day, which for an office worker might be a case peanut, for an EOD soldier might be a KaBar and a MUT, for a jungle tour guide it might be an 18" bolo Machete, and for a professional diver it might be a 5" dive knife?

I prefer the 2nd definition as it is more specific, and it doesn't pigeon hole anyone. I prefer individuality, and what is "your" edc, rather then generalized what is "an" edc, because everyone's wants, and more importantly needs are specifically different. It irks me whenever someone says, "that's not a good edc knife, it's too big, or too heavy, (or too small, etc)". Well, it is a good edc for me, since I work in a foundry not a Bank, and live in a semi rural area, not an overly urban one.

I also don't have any true "edc's" save for the SAK classic on my key chain, and my work beaters, the rest are EDR's, (every day rotational), as I don't carry one knife every single day, but rather I rotate through more then a dozen or so knives (usually 2 or 3 not counting the keychain), based accordingly to the days planned events, and the days attire; dirty yard work vs. casually visiting family, attending a wedding vs. walking the dogs, kids birthday party party vs. a date night with wifey vs. a wild night out with the guys, etc.
