In regard to the "nice criminal" scenario , I would choose to keep my Yojimbo2 S90V (though I have a couple). But the Yo2 is an acquired taste and don't think everyone is as obsessed with it as I am. That's why I chose the Military as the iconic must-have Spyderco for the masses. But for me personally , the Yo2 S90V is my ultimate Spyderco thus far.
I'm in total agreement with The Deacon, as this thread is suppose to be about which Spyderco belongs in everyones collection.... it seems to either have turned into which user Spyderco people like most or there are a lot of new Spyderco collectors? The Worker is an icon in the one-hander Universe! I've heard very little of the Herbst Folder, Dodo, Kris, Native,Chinook(IMO... far stronger and more durable than a Military or PM2),SS Police, Fixed blade LUM Tanto, Green handle LUM, etc... and my personal The Persian(small, large, and Red slabs sprint)Hard to say. Worker comes to mind, give that it was Spyderco's first knife. SS Police comes to mind as one of the most iconic, and the one that's been in continuous production the longest. Q comes to mind, as both the "beanie baby" of the Spyderco world and a superb combination of ergonomics and minimalist design.
There have been a lot of votes for the Military and the Paramilitary. Makes me think that maybe one of each should be in a collection.
Some one mentioned having at least one knife from every plant that makes Spyderco's. I think that this seems to be a good approach to having a well rounded collection. I personally do not own any Spyderco's that have come from anywhere but Golden or Seki. I have been extremely reluctant to buy anything that has come from Taiwan, Italy, or China. I probably will never buy any of the Chinese made knives but that is just me.
