What is the ugliest knife you know of?

hello all

I respect all your thoughts and opinions about our knife designs. Yes the Condor with the "teeth" was my leave favorite. If you ever held "our" product you could feel that its made well. As for our condor blade this was our main design then Frost wanted different variations

I use that knife everyday as my letter opener and box cutter.

I have this one in my briefcase

and this one i carry on me , its been on my belt for 2.5 years and has never let me down

But please look at our other knives at Frostcutlery.com search "Russ Farrell"
and youll see other knifes that you might like. If you dont like any of our designs then im sorry we cant make everyone happy. For the person who called our product "crap" just shows me you never held one of them. If you do not like the way it looks doesnt mean its crap and made like crap. If you have any questions feel free to send me a private message

Cheers :-)

When looking at your condor i see three patented features in your knife.
a reverse S blade patented by Spyderco
a hole in the blade patented by Spyderco (although it's not shaped as a full hole)
declining holes in your blades that are patented and used by Viele
This takes me to the next question.
You must admit that these knives are not made as hard use knives. They have several features, including the large holes in the blade that will cause stress points for blade fracture.
Looking at your price range the quality of the used materials and the tolerances you use in manufacturing could be less then can be expected from a non knowledgable buyer.

I am willing to change my vieuw on your knives, please send a free sample to Cliff Stamp.
Although a controversial person, Mr Stamp is given a free sample knives from various manufacturers (including Spyderco) to be torture tested.

I am not saying your knives are crap, but please give us an opportunity to test and handle your knives, either by giving them to Cliff are donate one as a passaround knife.

I am stating the knives are crap.
Unless Frost Cutlery has secretly completely revamped their manufacturing processes and started producing quality products, with quality materials, then I can say with confidence that the knife is crap. Every frost cutlery product I have ever seen or had the misfortune of handling has been a smelly pile of dung.
The Folders are junk, and the locks are unsafe. The fixed blades are simply useless crap.

<sniff>...<sniff>...What's that I smell??? Oh yeah SPAM!!!!!!!

Edited to add: Okay, I'm a person who said that in the world of knives your product was more akin to dino crap than dino bones (i.e. novelty vs. substance). However, I have held the product of your manufacturer, and they are glorified butter-knives with worse edge holding. If they're listed as a novelty product, then fine. HOWEVER, when someone starts to advocate these knives as some kind of self-defense tool? Then I'm gonna point out the unrealistic nature of that view. Frost knives are poorly made as a rule, MAYBE a hair's width above the likes of M-Tech. There you have it.

OK, so I guess the thread has drifted from a "let's have fun and make fun of how ugly we think certain knife designs are" to a "let's all slam Frost Cutlery knives because the maker dared defend them."

Fair enough, threads (d)evolve.

But why stop at Frost. Heck they aren;t the crappiest knife. Try Jaguar! Check out "Super knife" on ebay or the amazing Maxam liner lock... To me, the weak, thin liner locks, poor hinges cheap steel and plastic handles of the bottom of the barrel knives are far uglier than any of the designs proposed for real knives.

I never said Frost cutlery was the CRAPPIEST, but they are crappy. And ESPECIALLY in regards to the purpose which san jose savage was advocating. I never said the man didn't have the right to design his knives, but at the same time don't piss on me and tell me its raining. Like I said, to each his own, but a product is only as good as the maker.

The problem with low end folding knives is that they are knives that tend to fold. Now i don't mind that they fold, just not when my fingers are in the way!
Unknowing people buy these knives and expect them to perform.
Because they have no reference point on how a quality knife should behave they gamble with their fingers every time they use such a product.
I believe manufacturers who make a product should have some kind of standard and safety margin build in their blade.

These knives are the reason why the knife industry can become a target for lawsuits, just like the firearms industry.

They also infringe on patents and hard work of others and make a quick buck.

RFarrell, drop me an email if you please, I was curious about Frosts Bill Dance sebenza copy:

I wonder if he will admit that it is a copy? From far away, it doesn't look bad. I am afraid to look any closer!

what's so ugly about the rambo knife? It may not be that great but the original was a custom unlike the many cheap and poor made replicas all over the internet today.

Anything manufactured by United Cutlery, Frost, or is CCC.

I won't slam openly slam an e-vendor here (since I have never bought anything from them), but today I was reading a recent thread at GB&U and decided to see the vendor's wares - the site was loaded with enough ripoff CCC that it gave me the heebie jeebies! I still feel so....unclean!

I agree with VCM3 that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I love my BM Gravitator! :D That modified wharncliff blade w/Gotham swedge is awesome to behold!
Bless You...

My vote goes to those fantasy knives with cheap cast handles that you see in mall stores, with skull or dragonhead pommels, etc. The cheap wall-hanger Japanese katanas are about as tasteful as plastic singing fish and velvet pictures of Elvis.

I guess if you want to be a mall ninja or try out for a spot in The Chronicles of Riddick they would be OK. ;)

I think that knife on the bottom is hysterical.
