What is with A.G. Russel?

I have not purchased a factory knife in a while (quite a few years).

After all this, I have an inclination to order one from A.G. I think my last purchase from him was the hunter's scalpel (first issue). It was my first factory knife in ATS 34 (as well as one of the first in ATS 34 that was available).

Some folks should really be embarrassed for dragging him through the mud.
(or making their lame attempts to do so.)

In my eyes and I would like to think in the eyes of those who actually have a little knowledge of the man, how he conducts business and what he has done over the years, guess where the mud is?

The mud is clinging to those who would try to drag through it the cleanest man to ever enter the cutlery business. The problem is, all the mud is still on them, and there's none on the ground, and so this man, A.G. Russell, remains as clean and pristine as he has always been.

Dietmar Pohl asked me yesterday about who I would like to see carry the production Hornet XL first person that came to mind is Mr Russell.

I really hope it happens

I do believe that Mr Russell has done so much for knives and the folks that love them, build them collect etc he has my respect in many ways.

Have a good Christmas everyone

after all this prose I visited AG's CuttingEdge website and bought a Rick Hinderer fixed blade knife. It is an ATS34 mirror polished 6" bladed fighter with cocobolo scales and NS furniture. Very nice knife, even better price:

Several years back I got a “Knight Fighter " made by Xpedition Knives of Bark River, MI. The knife looks a little “unfinished “. I didn’t care, I get primitive looking knives on purpose, so I kept it .About a year latter I got a letter from A . G . Russell that said I could get ~ $ 50 off the next purchase because A. G. felt the knife had been overpriced. Who else would do that?

that's a beauty!! ive never seen a hinderer hunter like that.

does ag have any more????

Yep, somebody with AG's industry background that is willing to take the time to point out to a newbie that the Nussmuk trio carries a "Moose" folder not an oversize "Muskrat" sure is top's in my book!

I hope the season was a smashing success to pay for all that paper. I bet that line item has to be within the top five expenditures on the books! I sure do enjoy shopping them and there are currently quite a few pages with turned down corners!

This thread has been great PR for A. G.

Absolutely, I have saiid as much in this thread 2 or 3 times.

This thread, I am sure That $10,000 could not have bought the equal on this forum.

You always know that you have friends, but you never know just how deep that friendship runs, it takes time and effort to post on the forum.

Mr. Russell,
You have more friends that you have met over the years and even more friends that you have never met. All of your known and unknown friends respect the heck out you for your honesty, integrity and all you have given to and for the knife world.

Happy Holidays..................:)

I want to thank the OP..I just finished touring AG's website for about an hour..I requested a catalog, and cant wait. I compaired a few big name products..and thought that the prices looked fine. It seems everyone wants something for free these days.
Thanks AG for all the additional info on your website on steel and blade grinds..that was cool. Gene

I have bought knives from A.G. for many decades. I have always been more than satisfied, and even when I wasn't, he made it right. Never a problem. He is a great business man and a real asset to our knife community, and an all around great guy and gentlemen. I hope to continue doing business with him for many more decades. I also really like his exclusive designs. They are inspired! His Deer hunter design is awesome. I wish he would make it in even more steel variations. Like CPM 3V, or S90V, or .... I would buy them all!!! :)

I love getting the AG catalog , as do my young sons , they usually have leafed thru it and dog eared the pages before I get home from work.

Thanks AG....time for another order for me.

I too am a longtime satisfied AG Russell customer from back in the early 1980's. Have to go peruse the goods now that his name has come to mind! Thanks to the OP for the catalog check!

Thanks, A.G., for mentioning bladeforums in your catalog.

I saw that too. The editorial preceding it was good, also.

From suppliers to dealers, I am very quickly compiling a short list of people I go to first. Mr. Russell is one of them.
