What is with A.G. Russel?

My son is totally indifferent to my knife obsession, but I wanted to get him something nice from Blade this year.
He loves to cook and to grill out, I picked up the large Honcho folding chef's knife from the Russell booth, and he is estatic about it. Thanks!

I have had one of those for several years, and it is a major part of my kit when traveling. Wonderful knife.

Good products and good service thus far to be sure!.

Not only did I receive the goods post haste, but they arrived faster and more furiouser than I expected they'd be to boot because Customer Service UPGRADED the shipping process to USPS PRIORITY!. And made it FREE SHIPPING!.

HOT DAMN!!. :D :D :p .. Yea Baby  I'm Loving that for SURE!

Well, I am about to Order Some More from A. G. Russell with all this free shipping and all. :p :D

Thanks Pard,

You new best friend,
Anthony

on my:

A.G. Russell Christmas Special 2009 Catalog

it says:

"FREE SHIPPING! - with orders over $100. - thru 5 p.m. CST, Friday, December 11, with keycode from the back of this catalog"

if your order was over 100.usd then thats probably why you got the free shipping. good deal though no matter what and especiallly considering agr`s unreal customer service guarantee!

There is a reason AG has been in business so long. Everything about his operation is top notch: customer service, great photos + catalog, great product descriptions, etc.

YES Sir, That was indeed it. The order did exceeded $100.00 and so they just credited back the shipping cost. I love it!

I spoke with a very sweet Gal in the Customer Service Department when I called(who actually picked up and answered the phone :D) that checked on every item to make sure the knives I ordered were all still in stock. She was top notch!

The A. G. Russell folks are top drawer and put everyone else to shame!.

Sorry, you miss the point entirely. The knife was the first knife named ATAK and sold then later the maker names another knife the same name having forgotten the first knife. The maker when confronted with his mistake chooses to lie rather than admit that he might have made a mistake. Not much point in talking about any of it, he has exposed himself and that is the end of the story. Any attempts to confuse the issue only helps to protect the guilty.

Are you STILL holding onto that bullscat story, AG? Are you still really insisting that the ATAK, which has a documented history, included one knife which has none of the hallmarks of the design? And your legendary mystery collector has no proof that he has #001 of this design?

The maker has told you over the phone and in writing that this is untrue, that you got a fake ATAK. It is a Mad Dog, it is not ATAK #001. It is not an ATAK.

If you have ANY documentation about this knife, produce it. Documentation like a receipt from a dealer or maker, with the knife called an ATAK.

Once again, if you call a guy a liar, you better be able to PROVE it. You never have, and the Doctor never did either. Hiding behind the curtain does not shield you or your collector from sunlight.

+1 to both........

This thread was started over a year ago.... CLOSE IT ...... Please. :)

should every thread over a year old be closed?

I do not follow your logic on how a threads age deems it needing to be closed. Nor would closing it serve any good purpose.

Nope...........

You seem to have read "waaaaay toooooo" much into my post. Age has nothing to do with anything I said ...... nor does the "logic" you spoke of have anything to do with age of the thread.

It was simply my opinion...... as yours is yours.

I personally just do not want to see this "dead horse" try to be ridden again........ simple as that.

If you have a different view point, fine with me. :)

You have all been so kind. I would like to make a gift of a new product to each of you, including the OP. If you will send me your mailing address and true name of course, and your post number, I will mail 502 less duplicates and my own posts. Another original design, slipjoint lovers will really like it because it will allow them to open the hardest sprung slipjoint without breaking a thumbnail. This will take a few weeks, enough time for me to hear from all of you.

Please email your name, address, post number to me personally at agr@agr3.com

Wow. I've been forgetting to send thanks and appreciation, but I did get the gift... put it on my keychain, used it, gotten compliments for it... but shame on me for not responding to this thread sooner...

Mr Russell sent the following: http://www.agrussell.com/ag-russell-steel-thumbnail-black-rucarta/p/RUL-OP1BR/ and I have to say, it's quite a treat.

So, finally, Thank YOU very much !

Funny that you should bring this up now. I just got done using mine not 10 minutes ago as a wedge to help fit a pair of new battery side posts in the plastic covering doohickies. Handy little tool for sure.

I use mine all the time, from screwdriving to staple removing, to who knows!!!!!

Thanks a Million A.G.!!

On more then one occasion I have compared his prices to other outlets that don't supply me with a catalog and the prices have been the same. I have always received product from AG quickly and hassle free and feel safe ordering from them.

Have you ever ordered something only to never received it and not be able to get in touch with somebody to help you solve the problem. All the little worrying that goes on in your head....yuck. I'll pay 5-10% more everytime to avoid that rat nest.

Keep the catalogs coming.

Hmmmm....... I never got mine. I had forgot all about it. When did you get yours?
Maybe mine got lost in the mail or something????
Oh well, I have no idea..... :)
It does look like a handy little gadget though.

My experience with AG Russell's CS has been terrible.
Their prices are higher than other Internet shops, like One Stop Knife.
Their copy of Pat Crawford's one handed knife was inferior, though he did pay Crawford for the design.
I expect his copy of Chris Reeve's work will also be inferior, the same price as the original, with no payment to CRK for their design.
Other then that, they are probably no worse then.............sorry can't think of a knife company they are equal/superior to. I suppose if your in prison or a mental ward and can't order from anywhere else and can't find a piece of steel to make a shank with, maybe they would be OK to order from. Other then that, I'd pass.:thumbdn:

Something tells me you don't like Mr. Russell's products. That's fine, we all have the right to an opinion. However, there are brands that I don't like and yet I don't feel the need to insert my thoughts in every thread about that company that I see. Companies that have such stellar product selection and customer service, however, are a different story...

I guess it's that "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" thing.
