What is your beach knife?

I've taken two knives to the beach with not so great results. My Buck 110 went first, and I gouged the blade by carving driftwood that had tiny stones embedded in it. I then tried my Kershaw Link last summer and it got sand in the action. I cleaned most of the sand out, but the knife still feels gritty from time to time. As much as my beach knife experiences have not been good, I still pack the Kershaw Link because I hate going knifeless.

Pacific Salt also

If I think I'll get wet, I'll throw my PE yellow PacSalt in my pocket. I took the kids to a splash pad at our local park today, not intending on going in. Well, being that it was my one year old's first time, she was a little afraid. Didn't take long to get her interested, but I did get soaked, along with the knife. That's why I have it, I suppose.

For fresh water bring anything and dry it out. Salt water is a whole different animal. When I go fly fishing I have a CountyComm H1 Ladybug in my vest but a mini Griptilian in my pockets.

Or bring H1 and do nothing ever! No matter where you go! :)

On vacations and such I always bring my Spyderco Endura 4 for the beach, but im thinking of buying the spyderco salt that is the same size as the Endura. What is the knife that you carry to the beach with you?

What a coincidence I saw this thread. I carry the Spyderco Pacific, which the H1 version of the Endura. Well mine has been dyed orange along with my Atlantic. I like the orange better than the yellow.

Any of the Spyderco Salt series will do you well. I happen to prefer the Pacific Salt PE for the beach though the performance is better on the SE version - which I carry fishing, diving and the like. Sometimes I carry both. I think the PE is more convenient for slicing food and the typical things a lighter duty EDC knife would be tasked to do. I know H1 doesn't have the edge retention of other steels and I recognize that the SE edge cuts and retains edge better but as long as there are ceramic coffee cups to turn upside down, tops of car door windows or even the back side of a leather belt handy - I can deal with it.

If the joint and lock on this knife don't fail when exposed to sand, that is great. Most folding knives have big problems when exposed to sandy conditions. Fixed blade knives sometime face legal issues, but a small fixed blade knife in stainless steel is still the best for working around salt water and sand;)
Agree 💯 any folder will face issues with a sandy beach. Really surprised to read so many people actually take folders to a sandy beach.

Does anyone have any fixed blade recommendations that are:

a) short (3” max, preferably 2.5” or maybe even less)
b) LC200N, H1 or another super rust resistant steel
c) ultra secure sheath that will not fail when running, swimming, rolling down sand dunes, etc.

Update: just saw the Spyderco Enuff Salt ticks boxes 1 & 2. And for box 3, if the stock sheath is a problem I imagine I can get a custom kydex made that will do the trick.

Thanks.
Get a cold steel Spike. Or a Becker neck knife. Or perhaps one of these.1676864196995479519569117655918.jpg I live about a mile and a half from the beach. Oddly enough I never go anymore. I used to go just for the kids.
