What is your best bushcraft blade?

This little JK has been a dream to carry. Pardon the flecks of Moosehide on the blade. I didn't notice them when I took the pic.

Thanks, I recently spent a little time at RichardJ's place. He put an unreal edge on it. It is a cutting machine.

These are my current bushcraft blades ... I really like them all :D

Thanks, I'm shooting him a PM now. I don't know how I haven't seen that before, but it's a sweet knife

He's a great guy to deal with. Here is another knife I have that he re-handled. It's a Busse CABS.

For purely Bushcraft use I think Ray Mears and Alan Wood got it right ....

The damasteel Alan Wood Woodlore has got just a bit thicker grip for comfort ... and holds it's edge longer ( Rc 60 for damasteel v Rc 58 for 01 ) ... plus it is stainless so no corrosion worries in our wet climate and it is better for use with food ...

But the original is quicker to sharpen ... which does have that "Ray Mear's preference" ... because Alan suggested to Ray he use damasteel or RWL34 for his knife and Ray refused ... ( although personally I have never found damasteel to be a problem )

Whichever steel you prefer these are the best knives I have come across for "Bushcraft" ... but for all round use including food prep and butchering/cleaning game I really like my Phil Wilson drop point in K294 ... at Rc64 this stays sharp longer and takes a much more effective edge ... but the tip is not thick and could be snapped in some Bushcraft techniques and you would need to work around these limitations ...

Flexxx your Woodcrafter cause med to go out and buy one. It's new right now (just got it yesterday), but from the looks of things, it will become my go-to woods knife.

Nice pic! The BHK Woodcrafter instantley became one of my favorite blades. You won't regret that purchase one bit.

Thanks. I used my favorite lens, the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 DX. Thing is just stupid good. I used aperture priority and set the aperture to f/8. I dropped the exposure compensation down about a third or so and left everything else pretty much alone. I am loving my little D5000!

Jim Bensingers work. I have a few by him, this is by far my fave. My design with some minor improvements by Jim. Full convex 52100, zero grind, full distal taper, textured micarta.... MMM
