What is your church knife?

ty bob, a firm backhanded slap across the face for R reiddan

First post they necro a thread. Rookie mistake?

Any search for knives gets to Bladeforums by the third page of results. Usually sooner. Not everybody takes the time to check the last post date, especially if they haven't had much luck searching up to that point.

My "Sunday go to meeting" knives are almost the same as my "everyday not packing bigger knives for specific jobs" knife selection.

My EDCs are a pair of Kabar shorties or 1232s, a pair of small Buck folders, a BK-11 and a Pro-Tech TR4. One of the Kabars gets replaced with a Kabar 1217, Western L46-8, BK7 or BK9 when a larger knife is required to be one of the day's options.

For church/funerals/weddings, the Kabars get replaced with a pair of Western Black Beauties of the F48A or F48B varieties. The black sheaths and black fiber/aluminum handles blend in with my black dress pants.

Church carry for me is the same as whatever I'm carrying when not at work, which requires it to be smaller and lighter since I'm wearing scrubs.

Living in a suburb of Nashville, no one at our church would even think twice seeing someone carrying a knife. I don't consider a knife to be a defensive tool in most cases, it's just a tool that I like to have on hand. Heck, being on our security team, most people there probably know I'm carrying a gun as well.

As to carrying a gun/knife at church, to most of those intent on doing harm, a Church is probably assumed to be soft target where the can cause mayhem, not necessarily a place where the would go just to "rob" someone. Church is a place of worship but it is not immune to the evil in this world, thus the need to be alert and ready.

This has been my Sunday carry since I got it. Covers are Mount of Olives wood.

I attend church every Sunday. I don’t have a specific knife for church. I carry a Ruger Blackhawk 44 special, my case 75 pattern stockman, a belt knife (either a buck 110, buck 192, or case 65 folding hunter), and a leatherman original all the time. I don’t make a huge effort to conceal my gun, specially since it’s a hand cannon.

My pastor carries a sak, not sure the model. It has a saw and scissors I think.

My knife comes in handy at potluck. Dang plastic forks ain’t worth a preachers darn.

Gods more concerned with the condition of ones heart than the knife they carry.

My left front pocket has a Microtech UTX-85 clipped to it. If I'm wearing jeans, there is usually a Buck Sodbuster Jr., or Peanut, or one of my A.Wright Lambsfoot knives. On the right on my belt is a Kimber Ultra Crimson Trace in .45ACP. My wife and I are leaders of the worship team, and I would say that >90% of the men in church have a knife in their pocket, and I'm sure a lot of them are also carrying a pistol.

I'd recommend a fixed blade or slipjoint. No matter how boring the sermon is do not whip out a fidget flipper to pass the time!

Lol, my pastor has a 60+ knife collection that he picked up at an estate sale. Mostly older model Benchmade and Spyderco. He doesn't know much about knives or their value, so he periodically will bring one Sunday morning to ask me about it. He also knows that I'm pretty good at sharpening, so he's had me sharpen a few.

Gary,

Do you have a dedicated post here in BF about this Chambriard Compagnon or any other knife from this brands lineup?

I am much more into one hand openers with a clip, but I could make an exception as this pattern seems quite handy and living a mere 1h away from France I could even fondle them before buying if I locate a cutlery store somewhere near my usual destinations (north face of the Pirinees for skiing or ice climbing trips). Most of what I have found in local stores (suovenir stores mostly) is china crap with some Lagiole, Opinel and Victorinox exceptions, though.
