What is your "dress up" knife?

Or a caly 3 cf

Oh man, I love that milled Chap. Even the blue one. I just cannot get myself to pay 4-5 times more than the standard CF/G10 version. Around the Black Friday and pre Christmas time, one of the etailers (thinking Knife Center but not sure), had them for more than half off msrp. Kind of wish I would have jumped on that.

It is pricy, but it's a really nice knife. The sound It makes when it clicks closed is almost worth the price of admission itself.

My dress up blade is either a CF chap or CF Caly. I would love to have that blue Domino but I can't find any in stock :(

Thank you Hoimin! I have to get one of these that has the "mark" :-)

The CF Chap will fulfill all the requirements -- Sal's mark, dressy, CF, scale-to-scale slim (aside from the wire clip). It is an elegant little slicer. I favor the Positron myself because I value the spine to edge slimness and weight (it's the one I happen to have).

One of those two, paired with your GB2 pretty much covers the spectrum of what you'd need a folding knife for in my opinion, and is the pairing I am aiming for myself. Not sure how long I'll be able to hold off the addiction after that though.

The Phoenix. I pulled thwaese pictures from the exchange forum, but in my mind, this is one of the best looking knives ever made, and sized property to be a dressy carry

Hey fellow Spydie fans, first post here. I've been lurking for a couple months. I go by "Shockwave" over on the Spyderco.com forum.

I also just got a GB Air about a month ago, but no photos of it yet...

Nice knifes there. That double bevel is a very cool, interesting blade. Here is my new Air. Definitely my dress up knife. Not that I'm in suits or nice pants that much. But the GB Air will for sure excel in the inside pocket of a suit coat. Or in the pocket of thin dress pants.

Welcome, Shockwave!
Yeah, that little GB Air is a quality piece. :)

Thanks. Yea, your right the Air is a quality piece. My other choice for a dress up knife was going to be the chaparral as well. But I leaned towards the Air because of the blade design, and so I could have all 3 GB folders. Now I'm saving my money for these upcoming exclusives.

Welcome Shockwave! The Air looks great. For dressy occasions, I like to carry a Turquoise Kopa.

Hard to pass up this one:

I bought it 3 years ago after proposing to my girlfriend(at the time) with the intention of carrying it only on my wedding day. Wedding came and went, now it's an anniversary day only carry.

For a regular day dress up carry, the Mnandi gets the nod.

Congrats - now how about I carry it the remaining 360 days each year (with 4 days for priority mail passing it on to each other) ? :D
It's one of my grail knives and sadly I missed one on the exchange earlier this year by
about 20 minutes :(

My "dress" knives are below. Please forgive the non-spydie content... I primarily carry the three in the middle (D.Fly Nishijin ZDP-189; Mnandi; Air), when in a suit/tie/office setting, or on other occasions when I want a nice, modest-sized gent's folder.

In case it's of interest, I do use/carry the Air and D.Fly more than the Mnandi. The Mnandi is a looker for sure, and has my favorite grind (hollow, and super thin behind the edge), while the Air is a little thicker behind the edge than I'd prefer. But the Mndandi is much more difficult to open one-handed; and I prefer the Air and D.Fly's blade shapes, too. So, as always, it's they Spydies that get used. :)

For true dress knives I use either a Sage 1 for black or dark blue slacks and a pocket carry. My other dress knife is the underrated Centofante 3. I have knives that are "prettier", but those 2 have the understated yet elegant look I want in a true dress knife.

As a lefty I have limited options, but for me it's the Caly 3.5 ZDP/CF. Lightweight, compact, beautiful and plenty of blade. You should give the wire clips a chance, I think they are an excellent option. Very discrete and comfortable.

I like to carry folders with Titanium / metallic solid handle when I go out to formal outings. They go well with some of my other accessories (such as watch/cuffs etc.). I stick with g-10 and other reinforced nylon plastic handles for edc carry purpose since they tend to be more comfortable and supply better grip, especially for long term usage. But I don't plan on using my folders for such duration when I go out on a formal settings.
