What is your favorite traditional pattern?

Yikes..... I had to rethink this as to "if I was stuck with one knife for work and play, which one?".

With that in mind, it has to be a large Stockman. Followed by my favorite large, old CASE Copperhead with a spear point second blade. Then because I love 'em, one of my Barlows.

I like the simplicity of 2 bladed knives. I would have to say my favorite is the Case mini trapper. From the moment I held my first one, it clicked.
Next would be a Jack. Either large like the Case 92 or 75, or on the smaller side, the Case 62032

I've always been a fan of the Stockman. While I don't carry one it remains my favorite. Probably because of the huge variety of them.

These threads always send me into a state of confusion as I like so many types and pattterns, but the one that hits the pocket the most is the Case mini copperhead. You've all seen it, but here it is again:

I'm a collector of patterns, so it's a bit difficult for me to say. At the moment, I think my all-time favorite pattern is the stockman. Specifically, the Buck 301. My Dad carried this one on and off for 40 years, and he liked it okay. :D I carry a similar, newer example. This one's in the safe.

I also like sodbusters and single-bladed trappers pretty well.

Barlow or Canoe following close trappers. As inidividual knives may surpass though my preference of patterns though, so nothing certain... but if I have some Canoe or Some Barlow I am happy.

Well, lately I'm finding a Medium Stockman and a SlimLine Trapper in my pocket more often than not. I also really like Sodbusters. I wish case would make an upgrade with Bone or Stag in CV steel in that pattern.

IMO it's hard to beat a stockman for practical purposes and my favorite happens to be my Buck 301 in yellow derlin it's got quite a heft to it and is one of the stoutest slipjoints I own.

I guess I'll toss my choices out there. Since I spent 25 years with one as my only edc, I guess the list will start off with the...

Stockman.

These will go along as well,

Scout.
small jack.
Little Finn.

Hard question..lot's of answers.

Traditional Single Spring Muskrat. Nothing evokes American traditional slipjoint design more.

Moose - especially the one Queen made as a Winchester in brown jugged bone

I like the GEC stag one and the 3 3/4" Moore Maker one too.

A slimline trapper has been my favorite. Lately I've discovered the usefulness of having a secondary blade so now I guess its a 2 bladed jack. Luckily I have some with a trapper frames. But basically its slimline trappers and jacks (in all sizes).

I've been pretty fond of the swayback as far as customs go. However, I have always liked the case xx pattern 6202 "barehead" jack knife. Closed length is 3-3/8"

Whittlers for me.

Can't get enough of the Schrade Walden 804s at the moment. Been eyeing a Case 6380 or two but that seems to be outta da budget at the meantime.

Well, in that case "dogstar" here you go.

This is a knife like FLmon (Stu) was talking about. It is a Case 6292 Jack Knife sometimes called a "Texas Jack". It is 4" long. One cool thing (to me anyway) is that this particular knife's scale on the shield side is brown while the scale on the backside of the knife is black.

This pattern is my second favorite pattern and my third favorite pattern is the Stockman/Cattle Knife.

Yes I like that, and also think of Trappers, Barlows, Swaybacks, Doglegs etc.. to be "jack" knives as well.

My favorite pattern is and always will be the Barlow. It's the pattern that reminds me most of my childhood. My grandfather carried one for my entire memory of him. When he passed I inherited a coffee can full of them.

The pattern I use most is the slimline single blade trapper. Other than that, I really like Engish Jacks and Doctors knives. While I own a few stockmans, the pattern has never really done it for me.

I've see I'm becoming more and more a stockman or stocky like slippie kinda guy, still like trappers canoes and others but the stocks are really growing on me..
