What is your favourite machete?

Thanks, yes they are 3d printed. Valid concern about rubbing. I went through quite a few materials to find my ideal; some were too grippy and I could tell would cause a hotspot quickly, while others were too hard or slick. It's always a balancing act with material, texture, handle shape, etc.

Absolutely! Looks like the stuff you went with isn't as bad as many, at least. The fact that it's 3D printed also means you can alter the dimensions or shape easily so that makes the project overall very interesting!

I'm inherently biased, but my very own Baryonyx Machete is my personal favorite--after all, I designed it based on my own preferences! But barring that, Imacasa models of various sorts are my favorite. Which one I would select would depend on the nature of the work.

Awesome tool!!

My wife has this weird infatuation with the Harbor Freight machetes. She must have a half dozen of them scattered all over the place. I've offered to get her something better but she always declines.
Then later on, I'll find a new one sitting in the garage or somewhere else.

Oh well - it could be worse. It could be shoes.

I think this is worse than the shoes.

If ya' ever need cheap and effective handle fasteners for custom scales, give self-clinching fasteners a try. They look like a round nut but have a serrated washer built into the underside to keep them from turning when adjusting the machine screw on the opposite side. A counterbored hole is best but they work in standard drilled holes as well. I get 'em in stainless.

Sounds like a pressnut?

Press nuts are a whole family of fasteners and there are a bunch of different kinds, so they may or may not be the kind you're thinking of.

Self clinching fasteners look like this. They have a flared flange that locks it to the thin material it's intended for, and an integral serrated washer, which prevents the rotation. They're meant to be used in sheet metal, circuit boards, and other materials too thin to accept threads. Material flows into the undercut during pressing and locks it solidly together with the washer serrations.
