Did your Arius pass on to another collector already?
Sadly so, my friend. It must’ve funded a CPK that I “had to have”. Can’t remember.
Congrats, Michael. You commie rat bastid.
(Yes, I'm just kidding. We all know he's really a fascist.

)

To be fair, the vast majority of my knives are made in the USA and for the price he charges…he’s a stout capitalist !

Thank god China doesn’t produce top tier folders, right ? Then I’d be really selling out.
EMCEE
How would you rate the toughness compared to those others in the pic? I’m thinking stronger than pm2, on par with CRK, less than Hinderer?
Beautiful knife by the way!
I myself am missing a knife from the next class step up than those others you posted.
How did you decide between the Shiro or say a Koenig?
Good question. Haven’t put it to use yet as I’ve been working grueling hours restoring power outages since Tuesday. I didn’t want to risk losing it.
Both of my CRKs are Magnacut which I expect to more durable. The Shiro is M390 which should yield slightly better edge retention. Hollow grind vs flat grid and the difference in blade width may make a negligible difference, IMO.
Hinderers are beasts and his S45vn has been very impressive to me. However, the other 3 are slicier. So much more to think about here, but again, I’m not familiar with the F95 yet.
I did own a large Koenig Arius. Sweet knife. Mine was smooth though and seemed slippery. Didn’t find it to be a great cutter, either. The Shiro pocket clip is easier to manipulate. Both excellent action, yet different. Personal preferences.
Welcome to the tribe Michael, it's a beauty.
By far the finest folder I've ever owned.
Thanks D ! I’m happy to join and expect to feel the same. I just hope membership doesn’t require owning too many….or a Sucka might go bankrupt !!!

One of my favorite folders as well . Definitely one of the better fit and finishes in my collection . Sharpens up nicely too
Absolutely !!! Btw, you and DJ owe me a lot of $ for drawing me in with those beautiful pics !
Congrats Man! I bought my first Shiro earlier this year also after reading all of the hype. I wasn’t disappointed. I've noticed that some have a little tighter action than others right out of the box and need a little working in to get them super smooth. I also disassembled one of my NeOns and cleaned the grease out and just used sone silicone wipes to lube everything back up. Action is brilliant after that. The loose ball bearings can be a pain in the neck……..just requires a bit of patience.
For me it’s CPK for fixed blades and Shiro for my folders. Don’t really desire anything else at this point. Koenigs are nice, but they just don’t have the same feel that the Shiros have.
Thank you ! Please stop talking me into buying more !

Great advise that will be used, btw.
As far as being content with CPK and Shiro, I get it. My collection is steadily narrowing to a handful of brands, as well. Just wait ‘til the CPK folder comes out though, right ?
Not to knock Koenig because I sincerely beleive them to be very special knives, but I agree with you. In my hand, this F95 is nearly perfect.
