What kind of folder do you carry?

I agree..

I'm going to try.to get down to 5-7 folders, not including old-timey slipjoints, or my collection of 0550/0551.. and maybe the 0560BLK because it's so pretty.

I have 7 folders. All users or users in waiting that I haven't put into rotation yet. I have no collectable folders. I do have a couple multi-tools with a knife blade and maybe an old Opinel tucked in a drawer in my desk but they aren't things I carry or consider to be of much value. So 7 quality folders I would carry.

That's the thing about the Shiros. Once I got into them there was no purpose for my other user folding knives. My collectables at that point, mostly CRK just felt terrible in comparison so lost thier collectable value to me.

Looking at your pics above, you have way way way more money in folders than I do!

I have a few old/rare unused CPK which are my only "collectable" knives. I'm a collector, but primarily a user.

I have two Diskin knives, which are incredibly well made and mechanically sound. This flipper is one of them, the other is a Fire. Matt is one of my top five favourites when it comes to folder making dudes

This Lil Fella came in the mail earlier today. Out slices my CF/Ti Millie in S90V on the thinnest of papers like it's a light saber! Not too fond of the newer Delica's tip (looks like a Roman nose!) from factory but nothing that can not be remedied on your own. This is a Knife Center Exclusive model with Pakkawood/Mahogany handle scales and HAP40/SUS410 steel. The also have a matching Endura, but I'm no big fan of the Endura model in general! I already know that this lil guy will get a lot of pocket time around the House:

P.S. Not the lightest of Delica variants as it comes in at 3 ounces but still light enough to not drag my pants down!

Roman nose, maybe that's why this Eye-Talian is so fond of them Spydercos!

I love Spyderco too. Do they make some duds in terms of conceptual design gone awry? Of course they do which is impossible not to, for a Co which is in constant collaboration with so many other designers and 4 different manufacturing plants in 4 different countries. Sometimes their pricing raises eyebrows as might you think that some of their knives seem to be overpriced and yet some seem definitely undervalued, but over all I think that they are a fair minded business not embarked on the axis of price gouging. I also feel that in many cases, their knives definitely punch way above their own proverbial weight. Their owner and founder also seems like a genuinely nice guy who to this date, has a hands on and attentive approach even on the subforum on this place which is not even their main forum.

I agree with both posts above.
There are so many good choices in folders but the one that regularly finds its way into my pocket is the basic Spyderco Chaparral. For a city dweller, the 2mm thin blade is perfect, the CTS-XHP gets very sharp and holds an edge just fine. For my medium sized hands the ergonomics are great as well - especially after rounding off the scales a bit with sandpaper. And at that price point, I also don't have to worry about babying it since it's relatively easy to replace in the unlikely event that I damage it.
Great little knife!

These are the folders I carry.
The ZT0909 is my favorite, holds a good edge and takes the abuse in stride.
I carry the Buck Marksman when I need something lightweight but still a solid lockup.
The Rat1 D2 is what I use when hunting, usually stored in my hunting backpack.
and the Kershaw Camber is a work knife, can't have anything over 3", only time a carry a knife that small.

Not as fancy as some of the folders y'all have but they work good for me.

That D2 RAT is possibly the best pocket knife value I've ever seen. I've given those to almost everyone I know, and it just amazes everyone. It's super.... super-duper, even.

Woe
my folder patterns seem to work out well for Bruce Bingenheimer, and I think this one's my favourite. We call it Roundhouse, (like the coastal 1st nations structure) and he gifted this one to me. It's a hell of a gift :)

I've been carrying it, but not really using it. Sad! But I love opening and closing it, it's so smooth and snappy and it has a nice feel to it. Maybe it's the wood scales that keep me from using it, or the beauty hand rubbed finish. Whatever it is, I hope I get over it

Anyway, I just realized this ole post had broken links to the photos, so I figured I'd just update it
Wow. That's a dream knife. How do I order one?

i looked up the 0550 and the 0562 and the 0566 and so on. I now "need" a couple. Thanks a lot guys. like i needed any more knives.

Disposable carry i.e. bar or big city, $30 (eBay)rat 1 in d2 steel. For work or around town, spyderco Ti-mil, manix2 XL, Ontario apache tacfolder. For dress attire, a ZT 562cf.

These ZT's and Hinderers are nice. I like the "machinery" look of the lock side as much as anything about them.

those 909's look cool, never bought one after I read that zt's s35vn is too soft. You don't have that experience? Maybe I should reconsider

The steel has held up good for me, I've used them as a screwdriver, cut the armored jacket off of fiber optic cables many a time, picked doors with them. I think they are a good knife for the money and what I use them for, basically a utility knife.
