Why do you think you made a mistake? Is it total garbage? It looks completely intimidating!!!

Idk, I'd rather have spent like 10 more dollars and gotten an Ontario Ranger Assault Knife for $40. It's a decent machete I guess, the steel is very soft though.

Shiva Ki Merc'. :)

I live in a studio apt. in a large building, so I choose not to use my .45ACP or 30-06. I'd probably kill my neighbor! Instead, my home defense weapon is an old rusted out machete which I found 25 years ago and hand serrated with a triangular file. If they don't die with the first strike, hopefully tetanus will deliver the final blow! I don't want to sully my expensive blades with blood from thugs. Other than that, I have an array of knives within reach that include ESEE, Spyderco, Benchmade and Emerson. My 4 favorite makers!

Don't really keep knives by the bed, However...there is a loaded AR-15 and a loaded mossberg 8 shot cruiser by my bed.

A Glock 22 and spare magazine----when it comes to bumps in the night---I'm not messing around. Or letting any perp get close enough for knife range.

Used to have a BM Rukus but the table got too crowded with all the stuff on it (pistol+mags, light, phone, alarm clock etc.) so now I just sleep next to a loaded 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun.

I'm not the type who grabs stuff in my sleep so I don't feel unsafe.

I haven't slept with a knife under my pillow since I was a kid...only because my parents wouldn't let me have a pistol. Nowadays, if I wake up in time with my wits about me to confront an intrusion, I'll be going for a 12 ga. But I also live in a rural environment, what with the dogs, cats, geese, gravel, motion detectors, flood lights, hard to sneak up on me.

I keep my Sog Seal Pup by my bed. Out of all my knives, this is the knife I would use to Defend myself. Good balance, laser sharp, great control and perfect size.
I used to keep my 9mm Makarov by my bed until my daughter came along, now its the Seal Pup tucked away in case of emergency.

I don't typically keep a knife next to my bed---most of my collection is just across the room in a safe in my closet or mounted on the wall in glass display cases, so I'll just pick and choose. In the event of an intrusion or burglary, the Mossberg 590A1 SPX leaning in the corner next to my bed, in addition to its 9-round 12 gauge capacity, also has mountings for an M9 bayonet---so I guess that'll be my choice.

:D

Saddly I don't have the option of keeping a gun anymore, so I usually keep some of these close by...

Pluss others of course. These are just some of the first that I would reach for. :)

Great book! Oh...nice toys, too. :p

It is! I think "Suttree" is McCarthy's magnum opus. I like all of his early work, up to, and including "Blood Meridian," but I think he dumbed-down his work and sold out to Hollywood after that. "The Road" and its ilk are an embarrassment from someone of McCarthy's literary caliber. :grumpy:
