nice d'allara. i wanted one of those but i was looking right after they discontinued them. i've since then set my sites on other models.

here´s my e.n.c.: spyderco perrin, club

I don't have a knife too close, but I do have a club. Mine is made out of aluminium and can also light up the room - Mag 6D. I certainly wouldn't want to be conked on the head with that thing!

I keep an SOG Pentagon in the nightstand next to the bed. Not too large, solid, good grip, double edge (one side plain edge one side serrated), fixed blade. I'd consider it a good self defense dagger.

I admit living in a peaceful corner of the world, but the thought never occured to me to have a selfdefence tool beside my bed. If I thought that this was nessisarry I would keep my Gränsfors axe beside the bed. I also keep a vintage bears speer in my livingroom that would make hell of a self defence weapon.

I often emty my pockets before going to bed and put the knife on the bedtable. So often its my EDC slipjoint together with my glasses and watch.

I have a Colt Series 70 1911 loaded with 230 grain SXTs but it stays in the safe. It used to be in the drawer but now that there are young kids around, my wife wants it under lock and key...

So now I have to rely on edged weapons...... but that's cool with me.

On the nightstand is a Cold Steel magnum Tanto II in San Mai and San Mai Trailmaster. IMO these are the two finest products that company makes.

Hanging off the backboard is Gransfors Small Forest Axe.

Oh my Lord, what a mess that would make!!!!:D

Glock 19, Surefire G2 with the 140 lumen bulb (P61), some common sense (I hope), 4 dogs, and a cell phone. No knife. hmm,...I gotta go fix something......................

Blackjack Panga and a Cold Steel Laredo.

I prefer my .45 though.

Never keep a weapon right next to the bed, you can do weird things in your sleep. That was told to me by a police academy instrutor. He said place the weapon where you have to get out of the bed, so I have something stashed under the the bed so I can roll out of it to the floor and reach under and grab.

Have said that, if I couldn't keep my S&W revolver under the edge of the bed, I'd go with my backup which is a couple feet of sawn off shovel handle.

As much as we like knives here, even to the point of a fetish, knives don't have that instant effect like good old blunt force truma. It takes a while to bleed out, but when bones and nerves are smashed it works right now. I'll take a good club of some sort. Plus I don't want all that blood around in these days of diseases. Who knows what that person may be carrying.

Since we are talking about edged weapons -I think this is a great argument for Axes, tomahawks, and hatchets -you get the best of both worlds. Blunt trauma and cutting efficiency -and you may have a hammer on one side and an edge on the other for more options. The only downside is that it will be slower to swing than a club. There should be a "thinker" smiley. Hmm...

I usualy have what ever knife I had been carrying lately and that has been a Spyderco Caly 3 and a D2 Para Mili but I also have a Mossberg 500 12ga with 00 beside the bed and a S&W M&P 9mm 115gr JHP Speer Gold Dots compact in the bead board and in the 2nd from the top droor in my dresser is a CZ75 9mm with Winchester silver tips. Not in a bad area just like to have options.

Ever since I heard a teen was decapitated by a falling katana above the bed after an earthquake, I decided to keep anything potentially hazardous away from my head.

But I do have a TAKKnife Bodyguard on my left and a CS 24" Barong on my right. I feel the Barong offers great defense potential in a situation like that.
Alternatively, I just pick up a gun.

I can tell you, of the three, the Trailmaster is probably the most devastating weapon in a small space. It is razor sharp and light enough to move with speed. I have every confidence that swung with enough force it would cleave a limb clean through without too much difficulty.

The Small Forest Axe is another wicked implement with tremendous cutting power. Better wielded two handed though. ;)

Oh my Lord, what a mess that would make!!!!:D
