What Knife Makes You Feel Safe?

Since the front door is closest to the kitchen, I'd probably grab my 9-inch chef's knife! Either that or my CS barong machete which is in the closet with my axe and saw. My fiancee gets wigged out sometimes at night and she keeps a Condor Hog Sticker machete next to the bed under the nightstand. What a cutie! :D
 
Funny you should ask, as I had to answer the door a few nights ago when someone knocked on my door in the middle of the night. I grabbed a Maserin Wind because it was right by my keyboard. I concealed it in my fist knowing that I can open it in a jiffy.

Had I have time to think, I would choose a different knife. But, that knife was right there.

I have concluded that I would like my Spyderco Military due to it's size, length, and durability. It's a very comforting knife to have and it's something that I would feel better having in my hand when looking through the peephole.

Too easy: My brand spankin' new Cold Steel 1917 cutlass.:D It's a little tip heavy, but it still handles well enough.

The next "knife" I'd grab would be my 16" bladed machete. Thing is tough as nails, acid sharp, and very quick in the hand.

Is that a flash supressor on that HK ? (Never saw one of them before....*very* tactical....)

My choice would probably be my Cold Steel 5-inch Voyager, with backup provided by one of my .45s....
 
I love my Cold Steel Recon Scout (in SK-5). It's the first I'd grab of about 12 knives I have surrounding my bedside. Its weight (15 oz) and length (7 1/2" blade) would make it perfect for even the confines of a front door entryway.

Not only that, but it's coated in black epoxy and screams "Don't screw with me".
 
Awww hell, screw the knives, i'd just get my wife to answer the door :eek:
 
Id rather grab my ASP, Baseball bat or Hammer, but Im with you...I'd deffinately reach for my Spyderco Military.
 
I do not think a a bad guy would knock on the door, and if someone WAS knocking at the door, it would a neighbor who was in trouble!!

If there was a bad guy in my house, I would NOT grab a knife; I would grab a gun!!
 
If I had to choose, probably my SOG Pentagon Elite II - easy access and deployability.

If I expected something to really happen, then it would be my Ka-Bar D2 Impact... or my cheap ninja sword :D

Honestly, I would rather fight without a knife unless he had one too - either knife v. knife, knife v. gun, or hand to hand.

I would probably stab myself.. I would beat him with my bare hands.. and then get my 14205 benchmade and poke him in the eye...

Yes that is a Vortex Titainium Flash suppressor made by CCF. It spins the gas on firing to create a vortex or less turbulant area behind the round improving accuracy. " In theory anyway." I personaly can't tell the difference with it on or off as the USP Tactical bone stock a very accurate pistol.

Would grab the 9mm or .357 first...

But, IF I had to grab a knife, it would probably be my Benchmade Mini-Skirmish if it's a folder and maybe a CS Recon Tanto or Gryphon M35 for a fixed blade.
May rotate one of those two out for a Fallkniven A1 instead (probably the CS)...
 
At 2 a.m., I'm not going to the door with a knife. Period.

I actually don't have a knife handy that I would even want at the door at that time of night. A SAK Climber isn't exactly threatening. :D

10" Wusthof Chef knife if push came to shove, I suppose.
 
If for some unknown reason,I couldn't reach for my sidearm or long gun(BTW,Highly unlikely),I'd grab my BRK&T Rogue with a Carson M-4 as a back up
