What knife patterns (blade combinations) would you like to see

I would love a single blade barlow with a turkish clip. I would never have imagined anyone doing a barlow with a turkish clip blade. On the other hand, I would love to see a barlow with a leaf shape blade similar to your now discontinued Texas Ranger Toothpick.

That blade shape was easy, I just thought about an my great great uncle (Texas Ranger, river boat gambler) wanting a knife that he could use to open a can of peaches and then pick the peach halfs out with.

It's kinda like a cross between a canoe and a stockman, I'd say. Take away the secondary pen blade, add sheepsfoot and spey blades, and make it half an inch larger or so. This is the one Case recently came out with: http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=CA5718

Thank goodness it is a half inch longer instead of 8 inches longer. I am working on a new canoe handle and will easily be able to make it a stockman, you will like it, or your kids will, depending on how soon we can fit it in.

Thank you for asking this question!

Hawkbill with bokote, mahogany, tigerwood or Brazilian maple scales, VG-10 or ATS-34 steel

Large Gunstock with wenge, merbau, kambala or ebony scales VG-10, D2 or ATS-34 steel....engraved bolsters. Clip saber ground and razor blades

Large Saddlehorn with bird's eye maple, padauk or hickory scales...ATS-34 or 420HC steel with a wharncliff and a California clip

Grandaddy Barlow with Carribean rosewood, jarrah, longhorn steer or amber carved stag bone scales...engraved bolsters, ATS-34 or VG-10 steel

Note...meant to type "Variety is a good thing"

How about a trapper with a saw instead of the spey blade? I use the saws on my SAKs quite often while working outdoors and I'm always looking for nice folders that have a woodsaw in addition to the main blade. There aren't many around, certainly not with decent saws.

I've love to see a small Scout model, something along the same lines in terms of size as the Victorinox Soldier with a large and small cutting blade (maybe at the expense of the awl). Rosewood or ebony would make nice scales.

On an earlier thread I asked about handle shapes and got these answers:

I count 27 handle shapes and several sizes. I will note here the way i will size knives in our new program.

Pen . . . . 3.25" or less
Small. . . 3 5/16" up to 3 9/16"
Med. . . . 3 5/8" up to 3 7/8"
Std. . . . .4" to 4 3/16"
Lrg. . . . .4 1/4" to 4 5/8"
X Lrg. . . 4 3/4" to over 5"

Gentleman's knives will fit into the Small and Medium sizes.
Pocket knives in the Medium and Standard.
Hip pocket knives and Folding Hunters into the Large and X-Large sizes

In this thread I got 25 patterns involving blade shapes or combinations and sizes.

We will do some of the patterns that we received only one vote on but not all
The stockman got 22 votes in all models.
Trapper 27 in all models

I do not know what use Queen or Case or Canal Street will make of this, we have most of it already on the drawing board and just have to put it into production. Thanks for your help!!!

Swayback jack with a big wharncliffe and a small coping or sheepsfoot. Now THAT would whittle.

Medium Toothpick.
The tinies are too small and the 5" closed models are borderline legal here in NYC.
3.5" blade would be purrrrrrrrrrfect.
Steel? Anything but 420J2 ;)
The Elephant Toe with carbon blades is another great idea.

I realize this is a hint late, but a medium toothpick and single blade trapper are both models that I'd love to see more of.

single wharrny ( sub 3" )

one with both a 2 3/4 wharrny and a 1 3/4 wharrny :)

WHOH! Wait one. You want a knife with a handle less than 3" long with a 2 3/4" blade in it? You do not need me to design it or Phil Gibbs to engineer it, you need Mandrqke the Magician.;)

Just kidding, as I hope you were. We can get close, but it is hard to work a pocket knife joint in less than a half an inch.

Standard would be 4" to 4 3/16" 3 1/2" blade would be Standard Handle of about 4"
We have a new Toothpick on the drawing board, swelled head and a Yatagan blade, I think you will love it, we will do it in three sizes, we are not going co copy Case and their new Tiny Toothpick.

my bad , I was referring to 2 seperate knives there , I meant a single bladed knife with a wharnny blade of sub 3" and a second knife with both a 2 3/4 wharrny and a 1 3/4 wharrny .

sorry bout that , heat must be getting to me here. :)
