What knife patterns (blade combinations) would you like to see

My apologies, sir! I meant to write 3 1/2", and left it out! Thank you for catching my error. From the looks of the old woodcut illustrations from "Woodcraft", the pocketknife George Washington Sears/Nessmuk carried may be about 4 1/4" to 4 1/2". The only thing I'm basing this on is the description of a stout pocketknife, and seeing similar ones from that era at national kinfe shows. I have always wanted one similar to his...and at the tender age of 54 it would be a "nice to have" pocketknife.

Ron,

Today I can get the same size blades in a 4" that they did in a 4 1/4", it will carry better in your pocket and work just as well.

Has your unit gotten packages from us? If not then I need to know how long you expect to be there and how many persons in your unit, how many, if any, are women, the name of the senior NCO and an address I can sihp to

You can send this information to me at agr@agr3.com

what is a 54 year old doing in Iraq? I do admit that I was a better man at 54 than I was at 34. Thanks for standing between all of us and the godless.

A.G.,

I do like a 4" slipjoint better than a longer one. I'm 5' 10" with rather small hands, so the smaller size will fit my hand better anyway. A "Nessmuk" style folder at about 4" to 4 1/4" would be great! I love that old sleeveboard pattern.

I am a retired Air Force Special Operations guy who is here on rotation helping some of our folks here do a little hunting. I just want these fine young men and women to have a little better chance of making it home in one piece.

Thanks & Regards,
Ron

Stockman with the three blades and a leather punch.

Stockman or a trapper with some kind of liner lock on the main blade.

This might be in here already, but 2 knives I would love & buy are your Bird & Trout and Deerhunter styles, in full or close to tang, same shape / contours on the grips, but in a nice micarta, in a good steel like D2, ATS 34 or even a S30V.

A while back, Camillus had a stockman pattern--I think it was the lok rancher or something like that--that had a button on the side that you could slide to lock the main blade open. I would like to see that brought back in the 1095 steel.

Aloha AG,

I would like to see a Scagel type folding knife:

Slip Joint
Spear point or drop point about 3 - 3-1/2 inch blade
Handle of Elk horn (because stag is so hard to get)
No bolsters
Brass or self lined
Nail nick hole (narrow oblong hole)
Strong spring
90 degree stop
Possibly a second blade

Soemthing that would go well with a Nessmuk trio or just an old fashioned slippie for the back 40.

Thanks for listening

No one can do that unless gtheir patent has run out. I will check with Phil next week and see.

Jim,

I can get you most of that. I am working on a 4" by 1 1/4" with two blades, one at each end or a single blade and they wil be about 3 1/2" long. The spring will be strong enough to work correctly but not hard to open. I have a large stock of .032 Ti and plan to use that for liners. If I do a single blade I might use .072 Ti. The square stop for your 90 degree stop, you cannot have from me. I nearly lost a thumb on a Jess Horn Bullet Trapper at the NJ knife show a long time ago and will not have one if I have a choice (and I do).

Thanks for asking, keep watching, someday.
