What knife patterns (blade combinations) would you like to see

my bad , I was referring to 2 seperate knives there , I meant a single bladed knife with a wharnny blade of sub 3" and a second knife with both a 2 3/4 wharrny and a 1 3/4 wharrny

Since we are planing many many Wharncliffe bladed knives you will probably get what you are looking for.

A Half-congress, and a Texas Jack are ones you don't see made much anymore, but are useful carry knives!!!

AG,
There are two knives that I really like and would like to see some hybrid of. Kershaw's Ken Onions (or at least liner lock) and Queen's Oar Carver. I love Wharncliffes, one handedness and bone handles that fit in the hand like a Flexcut knife. (Yes, I am a compulsive whittler)

Spyderco Kiwi is close, but a bit small. Kershaw Centofante (14xx)has the shape, the action, but not the handle circumference. The Queen carver is a slip joint, which can be a little freaky when you whittle in ways that the Boy Scout manual discourages. A single blade suits me fine.

Steel? One of the "moderns" so the knife can do things beside whittle. Something that can be thin enough to whittle well, but tough enough for general use. You know what that is better than I, if it's an old school steel that's more than OK.

Wrong # for the Kershaw; it's a 1610 Centofante.

Also, downside of the Kiwi is it's lock back, so it's harder to close one handed.

All the omissions and corrections i see so far.

A.G.:

I’d like a four blade stockman with a sodbuster style main blade—straight backed clip point—a Wharncliffe blade, and a spear point. The fourth “blade” should be an awl suitable for punching holes in leather and drilling in wood.

Four inches closed would be about right. Stag scales would make it perfect.

Mr. Russell, I think a 3.5 to 4 inch spearpoint main blade of good, simple carbon steel (like 1095) combined with a sheepsfoot blade of the same length or a bit shorter would be the cat's meow, with a variety of scale materials or a simple steel handle (like the Douk-Douks and Mercators), and with a closed length of about 4 to 4.5 inches. That size fits my moderately large hand well. A stout lanyard shackle like the two have that I mentioned above would be a real nice touch, too. I have a big old bone handled Queen folder from the middle to late 1960s in what I think is the English Jack pattern that is real close to what I'm describing, though it has a pen knife blade as the secondary one, and there is no shackle on it. As a final note, I'd like to thank your for asking us what we'd like to see made and sold. ATTABOY!

A Barlow electrician with a liner lock flat blade screwdriver. Carbon steel.

I like the folding "toothpick"-like fishing knives with the hook sharpener on the side
Like Case XX and Western makes (made)

Even though I use a soddy, I've always liked my woodshop teachers knife. Four inch equal end 3 blader/3springer: Master 3" spear, & 2" castrating on right side, on left side 1" pen (center spring). He used to call it a "true trapper-hunter".

A good Doc would be very nice indeed, as would a nice carbon steel and bone sowbelly.

I've been thinking about a doctor's knife too. It's a pattern I don't have in the collection yet. Querky knife, but I'll think about finding one when I've some spindoolahs to spare. David

If you start saving now you should be able to buy one of the two great new Dr.s we will have next year, or someone elses.

all the best,

Sir,

I would like to see an authentic reproduction of the pocketknife that Nessmuk carried: a sleeveboard with a spearpoint at the small end and a stout clip-point at the large end, both of equal length (about 3"), and about 4 1/4" - 4 1/2" in total length.

Thank you for asking!

Regards,
Ron

Ron,

3" blades would mean a handle of 3 3/4-4" Handles of 4 1/2" would have blades of 3 1/2" or a bit longer.

Which?

all the best,

A. G.
