What knife sees the most use ?

My most used is my ESEE-4 for bushcraft, but this post is referring only to knives. My GB Wildlife Hatchet sees a lot of action as well.

Just as an FYI, my Murray Carter neck knife and my Izula see the most action for EDC, but it depends on my mood and the scenario...

SAK Vic Outrider that's my EDC, and when I bring a belt knife into the bush it's usually my Breeden SERE 5.5, it's never let me down. I've been on the hunt for a 4" or so fixed blade that'll be a little smaller and lighter to carry, and I've got a couple, but I haven't found one that really does it for me yet.

Himalayan Imports 20" CAK (the kukri). I deliberately do as much as I can with it.

If that doesn't count as a "knife", then the R-10 also in the picture, gets the vote.

I only carry small blades, so my Leatherman Juice gets used the most. (the beer-bottle opener gets used all the time!)

These are the ones I use all the time.
Busse Desert Stealth Fighter (DSF), Busse Combat Grade Fusion Battle Mistress (CGFBM), Swamp Rat Ratmandu, Busse Mean Street (MS), Busse Nuclear meltdown Special Forces Natural Outlaw (NMSFNO)

THis really depend on what I'm doing... allot of my outings are survival based outings where I might be making a shelter and such from natural materials, and processing large amounts of fire wood from storm downed trees
in those situations a larger knife like my bk-7 or 9 sees the most use
if I used a tent or hammock and such than much of my work would be limited to finer stuff however and
for finer tasks i defer to my mora fall to my mora any of the that I have.. cheap easy to sharpen razor edge, and comfy great for carving and cleaning game and such
and for everyday stuff its a leatherman wave or victorinox trekker

so my most used knives are activity dependant really
if I;m justhiking around cutting my lunch whilltling sticks than mora hands down
if I'm going with minimal kit into a camping situation than a lareger survival or chopper style knife.;

Depends. Spyderco Delica for opening and slicing stuff. That's usually all that gets used.
When I actually want to do or make something with wood, a Vnox Hiker.
If I want a fire, and carry a larger blade to split wood with, that gets almost all the use-either BlackJack #1-7 or Camillus BK7.
GB small Forest Axe when camping, but I don't really camp(generally stop, sleep, and leave) so it might get out once or twice a year.

of all my knives my Rat Ontario 1 folder gets used a ton. hell i have knives i bought and have not even used them yet. isnt that sad?? call me lazy i guess.

6shooter, try Bryan's 4" Pathfinder...if you like his SERE, you'll like this smaller one as well! I have one and it's one of my favorite "using" knives!

The most use is a SAK Spartan, but I plan on buying a small Meyerchin rigging knife to try as an EDC. I get the most use out of sub-four inch knives. I do have larger knives though, and have learned the hard way that "It is better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it."

I love to ''play'' with the big knives...but I end up using a pocket folder 98% of the time. Usually a Buck 110 or Case Sodbuster. I have field-dressed more deer with one of those then I have with my ''hunting'' knives. I went camping this week, used my 110 every 10 minutes seemed like, from cutting 550 to making feathersticks to whittling Figure-4s to opening food packages to cutting up 'taters for breakfast. I had a larger sheath knife with me, only time I used it was when I tested how it batoned...never actually ''needed'' to use it.

on a seperate thought, I am seriously considering not having a sheath knife in my woods pack...I have a pocket knife for cutting and a hawk or hatchet for serious chopping/digging/defense. My SOG FastHawk is much better at wood cutting, and I can choke up and use it like a knife...and it isn't much longer (12'') then some larger bushcraft blades, and at 19 ounces it is lighter then some of them.

lately, it's been the F1- winter/spring, that'll probably change in summer w/ backpacking season (something a little smaller)

on a sidenote, don't u just love that little gerber/fiskars sliding saw? I've had mine for a decade or so...LOVE it! It may be the handiest tool I have besides a pocket-knife. I use it a LOT!

Personally, I think if your "big tool", in this case your hawk, can handle heavy chores and some abuse if need be, your small detail tool doesn't have to be all that strong. I just prefer fixed blades because I've yet to find a folder that feels as good in hand,. in multiple grips., as a good fixed blade. If your primary concern is "Why carry the weight of a big, heavy knife when my hawk does the heavy lifting?", you may want to consider a puukko style knife like a Mora (or a much nicer model like the ones Jarvenpaa makes),, they will be lighter than your 110 folder, and much nicer in various outdoors tasks, and are easy to get sharp enough to scare you. There's a reason so many bushcraft writers pick the puukko as their knife of choice, be it the Skookum Bush Tool, one of the models made by custom makers here, or commercial models from Kellam, Helle, Jarvenpaa or Mora.

My most used knife is my Wenger SAK..... I carry this every day and take it fishing/travelling etc....
It's not anything special but I can make a meal with it, the scissors are great for cutting braided fishing line (or toenails!) and just today I gutted a brown trout with it (caught it on a spinner on the river Wharfe, not too far from Ilkley Moor).

Yeah, I kind of meant large, heavy sheath knife...I don't mind carrying a smaller sheath knife. Like you said, my 110 is as large and heavy as most 4'' fixed blades. It's funny you mentioned Moras, I never really was interested in them, but got to looking at Mora threads last night and decided to order me 1 or 2 (or 3 LOL) I may even order about 5-6 for gifts, since the 'site I found charges one fee per order regardless of # of knives.

But honestly, I've carried a pocket knife almost every day since I was maybe 7 or 8...I don't know if I could break the habit. I'd most likely throw a Case or Buck on my belt or in my pocket even if I had a Mora & 'Hawk LOL

I've got one of those saws too and it's a great tool. Love the thing.
