What knife would you like to see next from CPK?

If the SK does not come with the spine capable throwing sparks from a ferro rod, if I get one, I have every intention of filing down a small section of the spine to do the job. 'Nuf said about that!!!

I mentioned this previously (elsewhere?) but i would really like to see a CPK Kukri.

Preferably with no choil/notches and a 12+ blade!

I just got back from a trail recon with a new khuk pattern I developed with the help of Salem Straub, (check out his forum, Promethean Knives for a WiP on this blade) and holy shit! The thing is a monster! 30gm heavier than an LC with terotuf and pretty close to the same size... and it absolutely demolishes shit. Way wilder handling than the neutral handling of the LC, which is definitely a safer knife to use. But when you connect, whoooo boy! Khuks give massive mechanical advantage, but you have to pilot it. No slacking or lazy swipes, if you really mean it, you will be rewarded.

I'll be leaning on Nate to produce it or a version of it. I love me a good khuk!

Saw that on IG. That thing looks like a serious boss.

Something like this?

Great. Now I need to change my pants.

I'm not going to be mad LOL!

One of the purposes of the forum is to discuss features we would like to see. No one is wrong.

The way Nathan makes his knives currently, I don't see a 90 degree spine as even being practical for him to include.

He doesn't epoxy his scales in place then fit them by grinding the tang etc.

They are tumbled with handles for tumbling in place and the scales are machined to fit so with his current production method which I am sure can be changed I don't think a sharpened spine is even practical to make. The pic I posted above would be the easy way to do it.

Nathan can comment on this more. He could easily leave a little material on top proud of the handles and then grind the spine as a finally step but then you are going to have a different finish up there.

I definitely think it is worth discussing and will be one of those things that some people will be unhappy with either way.

Like the choil.

What're the specific dimensions?

I've been messing around with the Levi Smith recurve chopper that I got last week, and finding a similar thing - less neutral than my BK9, but the weight placement and snap due to the position/projection of the edge are powerful.

Actually, with the chopper in question, I discovered that the sweet spot is pretty similar relative to the handle to the edge on either of my hand axes (a gransfors and a winkler). I'll post a photo when I'm home tomorrow.

Lorien: have you played with a Thai E-nep at all? Similar to a khukri, but with more belly on the hooked portion, and IMHO more versatile for non-chopping tasks where I find that khuks get a bit awkward.

I wouldn't mind seeing a heavy duty version based around the field knife. Not that the field knife is not built solid or anything. It's just I like that robust feeling in a knife. Also I'm not saying a sharpened prybar, just a little more meat and some tweaking towards HD.

What need would that fulfill for the primary market? Note the "P" in CPK.

Since this design FK is being discontinued. This could possibly offer a sort of second generation version. Hopefully opening the door for another 4 to 4.5 blade knife.
Also I'm talking down the road, like after the SK.

Didn't read the whole thread . . . sorry if that makes my post untimely or already discussed. I have one or more of every model except what I call the "Imel-tribute dagger" (MAN, what I would give for one of those!), but what I love about your knives is that they are ALL excellent users.

Of course a folder would be so awesome, but not sure how practical that is for you.

So I suggest the next best thing . . . a version of the Loveless Stiff Horn. A smaller fixed knife that is very easy to carry. I have a lot of stiff horns, including two from Loveless himself. Would love to have one from you. But it needs a hollow grind. Can you do something with a hollow grind?

Hey, Ken, I remember your comment when that dagger was listed:

"Must. Never. Leave. Computer."

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet... a 3.5" - 4" wharncliffe/sheepsfoot based on the EDC.

Please!

I think it's time to take CPK to the next level. I would like to have Nathan make a one off authentically styled Dory or Xiphos using Nathan's preferred materials, like osage and either the D3V, or the newer 4V if he can find a superior HT. Unicorn hide where leather should be.
